A quick reminder. Justine is on tour in northern California this week. She’ll be appearing at lots of lucky schools and, for the rest of you, at two bookstores:
Tuesday, 9/16
7PM
Copperfield’s
140 Kentucky Street
Petaluma, CA
Thursday, 9/18
7PM
Not Your Mother’s Book Club
Books Inc.
Opera Plaza
601 Van Ness
San Francisco, CA
Hope to see you there!
And here’s a preview of Justine’s new book, How to Ditch Your Fairy, with first lines from each chapter (edited for spoilers). Also, she’s been interviewing other YA authors about what fairies they have, and wish they had. Interesting revelations.
While we’re on tour for the rest of the week, Robin Wasserman (who I just interviewed) will be blogging here. Enjoy!

I think my sister would have the Spare Change fairy. She always finds spare change. I think she even found a $20 bill. Or was it a dollar? I dunno, anyway, she’s lucky.

Are any of you vegetarians ?
Scott is one isn’t he?
I was just wondering because I am seriously considering becoming a Vegetarian.
I am starting to get grossed out by eating meat. I guess I am developing a conscious for the animals that i am “was” eating.
I don’t know how to tell me parents that I want to go all veggie on them because they are meat lovers. It is silly because I know that my parents will support me but…. I still have a hard time.
Scott should keep showing us cool books because I want to read each and every one of them.

September 18th, 2008 01:45
ok, sorry I haven’t been on in a while. I don’t have any power from the big storm. hopefully if you watched the news or something you’d know what big storm I was talking about. and if you dont…you should watch the news!!!
September 18th, 2008 01:47
oh and the reason I’m able to be on here when I don’t have power is cause I’m useing my phone.
September 18th, 2008 08:04
I think I want to move somewhere cold when I get older… maybe iceland – Because there language is SOOOOOOO cool (exchange student) or Canada or Norway….. somewhere different.
September 18th, 2008 08:45
Oooh, oooh, Laura-la, I’m a vegetarian!! I have been for 3 years, and I loooove it.
Pretty much the same thing happened to me: I started to realize that animals actually have feelings and don’t want to be killed to be eaten.
There are all sorts of online resources to help you become vegetarian. A great site is goveg.com.
I understand that you would have a hard time telling your parents. I guess the only advice I have for you is to be brave! It’s for the good of animals, the planet, and your health.
