Me in PW

July 20th, 2009

There’s a cool profile of me in Publisher’s Weekly this week. Much is revealed about Leviathan, but in a non-spoilery way.

You can’t see this on the online version, but they use this awesome steampunk portrait of me by Theo Black.

I really want goggles like that…that was a cool article, too. You’ve NEVER spoken to the artist? That’s pretty entertaining. Do you plan on, um, actually speaking with him by the time the book comes out?

Also, are you coming to San Diego during the tour?

That’s a pretty awesome overview, except for one little factual error: Keith Thompson illustrated Kenneth Oppel’s novel Darkwing (although I’m not sure if that was just for the softcover release). Either way, it was something I immediately recognised when you posted the first piece of art.

    Great portrait!

Well spotted, Ally-wa! Keith said told the interviewer that, but she missed it. (And maybe I forgot about it when I talked to her.)

So glad to hear more about the plot/ideas behind Leviathan! I can’t wait for it. I started snooping around on Keith Thompson’s website and I’m amazed by his work.

Okay, I REALLY hope he didn’t mean it when he said that this might be his last big series. First Harry Potter books go, then possibly Scott Westerfeld’s–I’m going to run out of things to read! (Well, probably not, but still….)

I think I’m speaking for a lot of wanna-be authors out there when I say that I really, REALLY hope that I don’t have to start out with editing those dreaded cinderblocks called “textbooks.”

On a random note that should probably be put on the last discussion board, because I realised it from that video: am I the only one who was totally pronouncing “Leviathan” wrong? I thought it was pronounced ‘Lee-vee-uh-than,’ not ‘Leh-vi-uh-than’!

    Holly-wa

Ping to Name-la: As I’m a fast reader, I suffer from the dreaded disease of n o t actually looking at the words I read. So when I look at Leviathun, I pronounce it:
    Leh-vee-thee-un!
    Why?
Because I am the MASTER of mispronounciation.

ping to Name-La: well if you run out of books to read you should read the luxe series by Anna Godbersen. they are really good.
ping to Holly-Wa: i am a fast reader to and i like to wait till an entire siries comes out so i don’t have to wait for the next one to come out, i just finished the first 3 books in the luxe series, and i recently discovered that there was a new one coming out! 8( and now i have to wait 3 months for the next one 2 come out! *tear* 8(
ping to every1: i won’t be able to blog for a week because i am going to my grandparents house in North Carolina and they have no internet service! 8( *aaaaaaggggggghhhhhhhhh* goodbye my blogging buddies! til next time!

New Website

As you can see, my website has had its first makeover in many years. This is to celebrate the fact that my first new series in years, Leviathan, comes out this autumn. (October 6, to be exact.)

Things may be wonky for a while as we play around under the hood. But I hope you enjoy the new look. Let me know what you think!
