US Tour Over! (mostly)

October 27th, 2009

I’m in Miami Airport, hanging out and waiting for the airplane home. I’m sleepy, exhilarated, and slightly addled by everything that’s happened on the Leviathan tour—meeting a bunch of new fans, getting to know Sarah Rees Brennan and Robin Wasserman much better, and of course the awesome hotel fire!

But I’ve only slept in my own bed two nights since October 5 (TWO NIGHTS!), so it will be good to get back there. Justine just got back from the Austin Teen Lit Fest, where she had a blast, so the Larbfeld household will be complete.

To all you USians who missed this tour, I’m sorry I didn’t see you. And for those of you in Canada, click here for details of the next stage. See you next week.

And note that there will be a few bonus appearances in the US, mostly close to my home in NYC, which I’ll list here soon.

Now here’s some cool news for everyone:
buyprints

You can now buy lovely prints of the Leviathan art in big, beautiful, framable sizes, directly from artist Keith Thompson! The Grand Map, the UK cover, and eight interiors are available. Click here for details.

Oh my! and I just started reading Leviathan yesterday, having borrowed it from the library. IT IS SO AMAZING, with the best illustrations ever, that I stayed up in chemistry class to continue reading it (on most occasions I fall asleep at my desk). And I finally understand why the little newnote up on the website is ‘spoken’ is a lizard.

PING TO THE ALL IMPORTANT SCOTT-LA: You may have new fans, but I will always have a special place in your heart. Am I right? :D Just kidding. But you ARE on the list of “People I Want To Meet Before I Die And If I Don’t My Life Will NEVER Be Complete!” Anyway, for your southern U.S. buddies, (don’t worry we don’t ALL talk in that bad of an accent.) may I suggest u come to Atlanta next year or time? The power of suggestion!!! :D

Ping to the general public: Here’s my list! (Yes I do enjoy making random lists that no one cares about thanks for asking. And yes, DANG I FORGOT! But it was going to be epic. And hilarious. Epicly hilarious.

Congrats Scott-la! Loved meeting you in La Verne and just finished re-reading the Uglies Series in honor of your tour. Now to devour Leviathan :) .

PING TO ALL: OKAY has anyone noticed the amazing new 7-up slogan?

    “RIDICULOUSLY BUBBLY”

haha how incredible is that?! Plus today I heard “blame it on the girls” and loved the part where he sings “Are you wishing you were ugly like me?”
    :-P
Plus I was just studying for Marine Ecology and I came across the term for the winds (at 40 deg N and S)… the WESTERLIES.
lol That’d be an AMAZING name for your fans Scott-la.

I’m really happy that I got to see you and the Leviathan presentation. (I was the girl in Miami who kept answering the forum questions and asked about Darwin.) You are awesome in person, like a real-life Cal or Hunter.
It’s a shame about Midnighters not belonging to you. Desdemona’s blog was really entertaining with its math facts.
