Come one, come all!
Tomorrow, I’ll be unleashing the Behemoth countdown timer, so see you soon!
Check this out:
I actually commissioned this image from Allison B. Thomas, whose work I’ve been following for a while. Since I always refer to Keith’s style in Leviathan as “Victorian manga,” I thought it would be cool to see the characters in a real manga style.
It’s cool how the clothing above (wind-swept, as always in manga) feels almost as detailed as in Keith’s incredibly fine-lined work. It’s a great translation from one style to another, which my favorite thing about fan art. It’s kind of like alternate history, art-style. (Or something like that)
But seriously, go check out Allison’s other work.
Here’s a piece from Haley A., in the great tradition of the Uglies series cover redux:

I love how many people have sent me images of themselves as Tally. It’s an interesting form of character identification—Tally as everygirl.
And finally we have a rare piece of The Last Days fan art from Katja K.:

Kewl.
And by the way, if you’ve sent me fan art and it hasn’t appeared, please send it again! Just make sure to use the term “fan art” in the subject line. I seriously get a lot of email and stuff gets buried.
Okay, back to finishing Goliath. More on the tour soon.

Okay, that was a shout-out to my French fans. Leviathan comes out there today, so I wanted to say hi.
But there’s news for you anglophones as well: More art from Behemoth has just been released into the wild! Just check out this post on io9.
In other news, the Miami Book Festival has been added to my tour schedule. So see you Floridians on Sunday, November 21. Also added is Lemuria Books in Jackson, MS on October 13.
Note that tomorrow is fan art Friday, with much awesomeness in store.
And finally, here’s the poster for my Pittsburgh event. See you all Pittsburghian fans in three weeks!
It’s Friday, but I got no new fan art this week. (Boo-hoo.)
And yet I have cool news! The mighty computers of Simon & Schuster have begun to reveal the details of the Behemoth tour. Not everything is set in stone yet, but at the end of this post you’ll find a list of cities that I’ll definitely be going to.
But first, here’s a bunch of events in and around New York (as far away as Baltimore) that I’ll be doing in the next month or so. Most of this early stuff has to do with Zombies Versus Unicorns, because that comes out September 21. (So soon!)
Obviously there are more details to come, but this is what I know so far.

And now, so that this post is not completely artless, here’s a lovely flyer for the Provo Library event.

One more month till Behemoth comes out, which I declare to be Behemonth!
Watch this space for excerpts from the text, some giveaways, and of course a few more pieces of Keith’s incredible art. I will do all I can to assuage the waiting. (It’s tough for me too, you know.)
And now, because I’ve now missed two Fan Art Fridays in a row, let me make amends with this lovely and quiet image from A-Wrob. It shows Alek’s watch with a cameo of his mother in it.
It’s based on one of the illustrations from Leviathan that’s my favorite, because it’s so quiet and personal compared to all the giant walking machines and beasties. So kudos to A-Wrob for picking a subtle piece to recreate.
See you with more cool stuff soon.
Check it out:
In case you didn’t already know, Zombies Vs. Unicorns comes out September 21. It’s a collection of short stories—half zombie, half unicorn—by some YA authors you may have heard of, including me!
Team Zombie: Cassandra Clare, Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Carrie Ryan, and me.
Team Unicorn: Meg Cabot, Garth Nix, Kathleen Duey, Diana Peterfreund, Naomi Novik, and Margo Lanagan.
There will also be a LIVE ZVU DEBATE here in NYC, at Symphony Space on September 23. Here are the details.
In Other News, Uglies fans might want to check out the free-this-week essay over at SmartPop. It’s called “Team Shay,” and is by Diana Peterfreund.
That’s it from me, except to say send in some fan art! Don’t let another Fan Art Friday go by in sadness!
