This one’s for all of you who want the Leviathan series updated to World War II. It’s also a fandom cross-over move, with Deryn and Alek in Hetalia mode. (Hetalia is a web-comic that anthropomorphizes the countries of WWII in comical and stereotypical fashion—and, as pointed out in the comics below, has been adapted into a manga and anime.)
Interestingly, it’s actually a collaboration between top-cap and magic-the-echidna, who did half each of the image. Click here for a larger version.

Also, some slightly annoying news: The release date for Shay’s Story has been delayed a week, due to paper shortages! But that’s only because the publisher wanted to make it bigger, so you can see all the lovely art.
It now comes out March 6, 2012.

Funny story: So Yesterday was the only one of your books that I had read until I went to LeakyCon this summer and you said something along the lines of
“So the characters in my current project aren’t having sex for a few reasons, My characters are serving in the air service in WWI, and romantic relationships were differnt in the Edwardian era, also the girl is dressed as a boy and the boy has no idea that she is a girl”
And I was like “I MUST READ THIS!”
However, I was under the impression that they were like, fighter pilots in the actual air service. I was quite surprised to find Austrians and Beasties. Not that I minded in the end.

@Scott- funny story: So Yesterday was the first of your books i had ever read and i dedicated a blog to it trying to figure out all the unnamed products in it. anyways i had never heard of ABBA or any of there music before so i was cursing myself for not being able to figure out that ringtone. then the day after i finished the book my mom buts in her ABBA CD and Take a Chance On Me plays. I felt really stupid after that because turns out shes had that CD for like 5 years.

@ 745- Okay, so one thing I think could improve it a little better is the timing. For example, the two ships just HAPPEN to set on fire the EXACT SAME TIME the middy gang go to see them, right? That seems too… predictable… or STAGED… Like it’s too much of a coincidence. What about if Alek and Deryn and Newkirk are standing in the Leviathan next to the windows, and Miles rushes in and says that the ships are on fire, or something like that, so that way they will have a good reason to run to topside and then you’ll able to properly display Deryn’s emotions, because her anxiety would’ve been built on the frantic way there, then letting her practically explode. And I think what would make it even better is if you described Alek as he was trying to calm Deryn down and what he would say to her in that situation. And the ships were beasties, right? And I think Deryn would’ve been more hopeful, hoping that Jaspert would’ve survived somehow, and want to try to help in some way. And then there should be a lot of angst afterwards, if Jaspert IS dead, because then Alek would feel like HE was the one to cause Jaspert’s death, you know?
But these are just suggestions, and if they interfere with previous plans, then I don’t mind.
