No, this isn’t my review of Twilight, it’s a post about a new anthology (out this week!) that includes a short story by me.
Actually, at 60 pages it’s really a long story. There are only five stories in the anthology, so everyone got to stretch out a bit and write mini-novels. As you can probably tell from the title, the subject is love and romance of a supernatural kind.
And here are the stories:
“Stupid Perfect World” by me
Set in a future in which the ancient scourges of humanity—war, sickness, hunger, teen hormones—have been eliminated. In fact, the only place you ever experience them is in a special history class called Scarcity. Extra credit proposals are due today, and Kieran’s and Maria’s class projects are going to bring them together in unexpected ways.
“Thinner Than Water” by Justine
This tale of culture clash is set in a town that follows the old ways: no TVs or cell phones, no factory-made clothes or food, and marriages way too young. This sucks for Jeannie, who’s sixteen and supposed to be “hand-fasted” soon. But when she chooses Robbie, who has a touch of faerie blood, the clash of cultures takes on a new dimension. Click here for an excerpt.
“Love Struck” by Melissa Marr
A love affair with a selkie has its complications. Melissa can explain this better than I can.
“Fan Fictions” by Gabrielle Zevin
Paige falls for a mysterious new boy at school. As Gabriel puts it: “Say, have you heard of that book where the ordinary, clumsy girl falls for the sparkly, vaguely obsessive vampire dude? (I think it’s just starting to catch on.) My story is a bit inspired by that whole thing.”
“Sleeping with the Spirit” by Laurie Faria Stolarz
Loving a ghost ain’t easy, but it’s totally worth it.
Love is Hell is available now at fine bookstores everywhere, and online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Booksense.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit College Summit, a nonprofit that helps more kids get into college.

November 29th, 2008 12:42

November 29th, 2008 12:51

November 29th, 2008 13:23
Kenzie-la: I like Some Thoughts In The Dark. It’s pretty icy. Why are so many blogs based on thinking or thoughts? Mine, yours, andrea-la’s…click my name to read my blog.
November 29th, 2008 13:27
Oooo. Sounds sweet! I’ll have to convince my library to get it, since I have no money, or wait till Christmas.
On an unrelated note – LOVED Bugus to Bubbly!
I still need to read the index, but I loaned it my my friend who had a heart attack when she saw it! Seriously, I was reading it in one class were I”m a Teacher’s Aide and had nothing to do. I laughed OUT loud. The teacher was talking about WW1 and trench war fare, and I LAUGHED. Everyone looked at me, and I was like, sorry! But Mr. B just laughed and went on teaching. XD SO funny!
November 29th, 2008 13:35
Hmm, sounds… interesting. I just read the description on Barnes&Noble, the one with the ghosts sounds exactly like the Mediator books by Meg Cabot. Girl moves into house where boy was killed, falls for ghost boy.
CLICK MY NAME! Anyone reading this (particularly non-Twilight fans) should click my name. I like readers, I like comments even more. ^_^
November 29th, 2008 13:35
I can’t wait to read this book. It looks mega fawesome. =D
And the main character in Justine’s story has the same name as the main character in my NaNo. Except she spells it with one more ‘n’. Still, I find it awesome.
November 29th, 2008 13:44
Sounds awesome. I’d love to see this review of Twilight you speak of. I personally though it was Fawesome.
November 29th, 2008 13:48
“Love is Hell”sounds like it would be right up my alley (book wise that is). It reminds me of “Prom Nights from Hell”, another book filled with short stories, except the authors were Meg Cabot, Michele Jaffe, Lauren Myracle, Stephanie Meyer, and Kim Harrison (I loved “Prom Nights From Hell”).
Now I wish I had put “Love is Hell” on my birthday list!
Psst, click my name (you know you waaant to)
November 29th, 2008 13:53
If it means something new from you to read, I’m definitely getting it!
I like the sound of Gabriel’s, too.
November 29th, 2008 14:00
I’ve been meaning to get that…guess it’s out now.
*vows to buy this weekend*
I’ve been looking for a book to buy, what with all the crappy bookstore sales and stuff, cuz I rely on libraries so much…want to do my part a bit.
And NaNo’ll be over soon, so I can read again!
*is still in total freakout mode from having hit 50K like 30 seconds ago and about to wrap up story*
November 29th, 2008 14:06
hmmm…..sounds interesting….
November 29th, 2008 14:11
That looks totally awesome, and anything set in the future is going to be totally amazing.
And that’s hilarious (not sarcasm) about the Twilight review.
Definitely going to get it and it’s sure to be like 80 Mega-Helens!
I hope your story is Good Serafina Zane!
November 29th, 2008 14:14
omg! i love Gabrielle Zevin! and Scott! yay im sooo getting that book! and yah wat IS it with the future thing. not that its a bad thing…its totally awsome
<3 cam gigandet<3
November 29th, 2008 14:14
Serafina Zane: Congrats on reaching 50K! I gave up around 10,000. Just wasn’t into the story. I wasn’t even planning to write the one I picked for NaNo for another year or two.
November 29th, 2008 14:15
I’ve been on YouTube, looking at people’s picks for cast for Uglies, and I say we should go with CGI…there’s a couple awesome trailers…AND YAY NEW POST
November 29th, 2008 14:18
Scott Westerfeld is really helping out other authors with this ‘teenagers-buy-a-lot-of-books’ thing.
And the fact that (most) of us on here worship him…that’s working out well…yay! And thank you, ’cause otherwise I would only read books by Stephenie Meyer and scott-la which isn’t bad, but thats one short reading list..
November 29th, 2008 14:22
Yes! All my favorite authors in one place! I think its too good to be true (:
November 29th, 2008 15:55
Wow, that book looks awesome. I’ll definitely have to read it.
November 29th, 2008 16:21
Well, I definitely worship him. In fact, I belong to the religion of Westerfeldism. Yep. I’m Westerfeldian. Oh, and I’ve been on Nanowrimo since the 4th and have not written ONE WORD!! Im too busy! They should make it in the summer. Ps-click my name to read my blog. Pss-when reading my blog, click the youtube video link on the sidebar. Psss-when reading the ‘about me’ on my blog, the 1bff i speak of is the westerblog commenter liana-la. She hasnt commented on this post yet.
November 30th, 2008 01:02
Sounds interesting! I think I’d also enjoy the one about the selkies, I love mermaids/selkies/naiads/water sprites stuff. I’ll get it once they start shipping it here. I’d probably have to wait a month, though. D:
Serafina Zane: Good job on reaching 50,000! I’m some where at around 24,000-ish. Gonna go chiong it now.
November 30th, 2008 05:01
I probably have to wait a few months to find ‘Love is Hell’ in a used bookstore. Boo hoo :’(
November 30th, 2008 05:22
amira-la: Maybe you could get your local library to order it in?
November 30th, 2008 06:53

November 30th, 2008 14:06
Okay, so this is kind of random, but my dad was telling me about this stuff the army has. It’s a suit you wear, and there’s like a projector infront of you and it projects the image from behind you and I was freaking out like SNEAK SUITS!!!

but Scott’s sounds fawesome
December 1st, 2008 09:09
haha, I considered doing a spoof of Twilight. It would have been about this girl with this ultra-hot boyfriend who one day tells her he’s a vampire. The only problem is, he really isn’t a vampire and is actually just kind of crazy and thinks he’s immortal and indestructible and can read minds. haha…
Oh yeah, and speaking of NaNoWriMo, I won today! Woo-hoo! 93 pages baby! Now on to December, AKA Revising and Editing Month.

December 1st, 2008 12:19
This is probably going to seem a little random, but I’ve been wondering, do braces hurt? I have to go to the orthodontist soon and there’s no ‘if’ about me getting braces. T_T
Someone please tell me. Unexpected pain is the worst. D:
December 1st, 2008 12:27
Oooh. I’ll have to get this one. It sounds good. I kind of liked the name ‘Fan Fictions’. It reminds me of all the Twilight and TruBlood fanfics I see online.
December 1st, 2008 12:45
braces STINK. and i guess it depends on how many thingies you get put in your mouth (don’t tell me…don’t tell me…BRACKETS! yes!). i only have four, so my mouth doesn’t hurt, until a wire gets loose and my mouth gets all cut up and it’s not fun.
but i’m getting MORE braces put in the DAY BEFORE MY BIRTHDAY! stinkish much?
TWILIGHT IS SO GOOD!
sry, i had to say that. I WANNA READ THEM AGAIN!
i don’t wanna go back to school. i wanna stay home and sleep and read and sleep and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read and read some more.
ya, i luv reading.
there’s an uglies movie?!
December 1st, 2008 13:07

December 1st, 2008 14:14
I read Love is Hell in about two hours. Amazing! Amazing. Much better than Prom Nights From Hell. I pretty much died reading Stupid Perfect World, Scott you are a genius. Hilarious!!! Fan Fictions will be WELL appreciated by anyone who appreciates the hilariousity and ridiculousness of Twilight Fan Girls. And Thinner Than Water is a genuinely touching romance without taking anything away from the heroine (yay Justine!!!). Overall, GO BUY IT. NOW. As if you weren’t going to already.
December 1st, 2008 14:35
I wish I could, Kell-wa, I really do…
December 1st, 2008 15:42

December 1st, 2008 17:28
i need to read this…it sounds awesome.
yes, braces suck. but headgear sucks more. especially when you have to have it for six months more than they said originally, even though the orthodontists praise me for wearing it alot.

Uglieforlife: I thought Breaking Dawn was the most terrid of the four books. It was so bad it reminded me of a fanfic. My fave was New Moon though.

Clare-wa scott has already signed over the rights of the movie to fox but its just a matter of when they start filming and Im on the the 4th twilight breacking dawn holy crap is it realyyyyyyyy weird.
OMG SERIOUSLY?? IF THEY don’t make it in CGI and everyone looks wrong and hokey (which is potentially the case) I’m going to light things on fire. MARK MY WORDS, THINGS WILL BE ON FIRE!!
(and I’ll sick my goats on you..whoever…)
December 2nd, 2008 09:37
Wow that does suck Ashley-wa. Im sorry. Once you get used to braces they arent so bad i guess but they ruined my smile. I dont even get why i needed them. Anyway I havent read the uglies books in a while so i decided that im going to start to reread them… YAY! Trying hard to get my cousin to read them.
<3 Nicole-la
December 2nd, 2008 10:07
Nicole-la: i tried 2 get my cousin 2 read them, by telling her how good they were @thanksgiving, but she ab-viously wasn’t listening because like 15minutes into my “lecture” she left!!!!!she has NO taste in books if she does’t like the Uglies series
December 2nd, 2008 10:37

December 2nd, 2008 11:23
i. am. so. busy.
tomorrow, i thought i had nothing up, but it turns out i have an afterschool jazz band rehersal. and tonight, i have triathlon training. and on wenesday and thuresday i have basketball tryouts and i also have two overdue assignments and if my parents find out about them, i’m pretty much doomed. so i basically have no time to catch up because i’m too busy trying not to fall more behind and i’ve got to do all my activities and all that plus i really should be fund-raising but i don’t have time, so LATER i’m gonna have to make the money to go on school trips myself. and i’m pretty much tired right now so it’s not like i have the brain to work on those over-due assignments. Actually, one of them was due a week ago, and I had (i worked on it further today) one word written down, it was the wrong word, and it was spelled wrong. When I told my friend, she burst out laughing (cuz she had already gotten the assignment BACK) and so now I feel like I really should get my work done…eventually. Not to mention the fact that I have a bunch of tests/quizes coming up and I really ought to study for them, but I probably wont cuz i DON’T HAVE TIME BECAUSE OF SPORTS AND OTHER EXTRACURRICULARS. Plus I’m always stuck at someone else’s house cuz my parents can’t get me home til five so I have to do my homework THERE and it basically sucks. Oh, and I haven’t had any spares at school since last week and then (when I don’t have any spares til wenesday) the teachers get all hard-core on us about our work. yeah. It sucks. On the plus side, I’m ahead in math! But that’s really not much since I find math too easy. Okay. So now I’m gonna go to triathlon training and hopefully do homework during dry-land (yes, it is possible to do homework while doing push-ups….kinda.)
December 2nd, 2008 11:39
crap….french homework….forgot ’bout that…..must get ready for triathlon training now……french homework was due a week ago…..this is NOT my week….
December 2nd, 2008 11:46
and oh my gosh….i still need to get a dress for the Christmas Banquet…..definetly not my week…..
December 2nd, 2008 11:58
wow, im glad ur not busy Andrea-la… and y do u hav 2 wer a dress, id just wer jeens and a t-shirt…. but thats just me
December 2nd, 2008 11:58
OMG Andrea-la, u need a break from your busy life!!!!i have had a week like that before, but @my school u can’t turn in work past the time the teacher collects it!!!!if u don’t its a 0%…..so this 1 day i had a fever and totally forgot about my math homework!!!!it REALLY sucked!!!then i was all frazzled about my math grad becaue i went from an A to an F!i have gotten 100%on everything since then, and i still have a C!!!!OMG!!!…..then 4 the gayest part of all, i left my English homework @my house!!!now i have a C in that 2!!!!now i try 2 b more careful about homework!=D
BTW: Andrea-la, is a triathlon a running thing???
December 2nd, 2008 12:02
a triathalon is wer u swim, run, then bike ( tri= 3, so a triathalon has 3 sports), c the connection?
December 2nd, 2008 12:14

December 2nd, 2008 13:16
Hello, Everyone!
This is an awesome time in my US History class because we are doing the American Revolution and we each get a perosn we act out. so each day until Christmas Break we go to town meetings. We have to dicuss local problems. I am…
Lydia Darrah!
If you dont know who that is then you were like me before i researched! But she did a great thing. You should look her up. Or you can ask me.
Oh and next week were having a tea party. but not with tea because of the tea act. Yep. Its gonna be AWESOME! Oh, and we dress up.
December 2nd, 2008 13:27
sigh
i’m happiful.
i hate homework and i wish that i was on thanksgiving break again. it’s almost 9:30pm and i still have to finish this essay, and i have these two map projects for geography due wednesday, one physical and one historical, and the historical is HARD. and i’ve hardly started. sigh. life is tuff.
one of my friends was on some international trip or something, and she’s coming back on wednesday! yippeee!!!
that sounds so fun bran-la! we’re working on ancient egypt
not too fun….notes, notes, notes, notes. yay. (fyi, that was sarcastic)
o ya and two days before my birthday (my bday is dec 23) i hafta get my bottom braces on, and ON my b-day i hafta go to the doctor’s for some RANDOM appointment. sigh. but for xmas break we have SIXTEEN DAYS! finally, i can breathe. but not now.
now, i’m procrastinating, delaying the inevitable. which is pretty hard cuz it’s hanging over my head and i really don’t wanna do it. i really really don’t wanna do it. but i will cuz my grades would suffer!
i couldn’t care less about grades! i hate grades!
but i wanna get into college. sigh. c’est la vie (i probably mispelled that–it’s ’such is life’ in french)
December 2nd, 2008 13:28

December 2nd, 2008 14:53
oh wow…i just got back from triathlon training….and guess what! now we get to expand practices by half an hour so we can do extra running. bleh. i hate running. i only like the swimming and biking. oh well. anyways, i’ve still got three over-due assignments calling my name and i have to write what i have to say for my story-telling for volunteer hours. and yes, i have to wear a dress for the Christmas Banquet, but we are still supposed to follow school dress-code….kinda stupid, if ya ask me. but whatever, i’ll just break dress code cuz everyone else is gonna and it’s really stupid to try to follow it for a banquet. and so yeah, i still need to find a dress and it sucks cuz i don’t know what the heck it’s trying to get across with the whole “casual but you must wear a dress” thing. ugh. there must be a name for that…bleh. anyways, so now i’ve gotta go do a ton of homework and oh, study and write out my bible story telling thingy for church. yeah. oh also, it’s almost ten at night here and i still have a good two hours of homework, if i plan to get it done. and i really don’t wanna stay afterschool tomorrow to reherse, but i kinda have to. so bleh. looks like i’ll be spending lunch hour tomorrow in the library, at this rate….or worse, spares in the LAR. ooooh. scary. Okay, now i’ve seriously gotta go do homework…..
December 2nd, 2008 15:17

December 3rd, 2008 00:28
Wow. Does anyone ever think that maybe Andrea-la does TOO much. I would esplode.
(debate=boring)
December 3rd, 2008 04:23
Hey guys! I just got the “Love is Hell” anthology a few hours ago and finished Scott’s story in it. I won’t spoil anything major, but just in case people want a clean slate when reading, SPOILERS AHEAD!

The story has all the great future-lingo and gadgets that I loved about Uglies, with “meekers” being my favourite slang. It seems like a more stable/less dystopian future than Tally’s world, with people teleporting to the Antarctic and spending whole afternoons there, but the technology is not entirely unfamiliar.
I loved how many Hamlet lines and references Scott was able to slip in because I’m a huge Shakespeare nut. But it’s really nice to see the classics still studied in the far off future – shows you who has staying power and who doesn’t.
I haven’t actually read any of the other short stories since aside Justine I don’t know any of the other authors. I’ll try to find time later, after all my exams and major reading assignments are done with for the holidays.
Basically, it’s a good short to tide readers over until Leviathan. It’s set in a world not unlike Tally’s, with an easily recognisable conflict, and characters that most teens can empathize with. Not my absolute favourite of Scott’s works, but not a bad offering. A small accomplishment, yes.

Oh holy crap i just realized that xmas is only like 3 weeks away. Can’t believe that, its just coming so quick. But what sucks is that my break starts on the 22nd and xmas is on the 25th but oh well. Yay! my bad day just got better!! =)
December 3rd, 2008 11:02
UGH! I. Am. Too. Stressed. Not even kidding. Why? Oh, let’s see, ummm….try the who-knows-how-many hours of homework that I have to do, PLUS my mother is FORCING me to go to the pet store with her to get more shavings for my guinea pig’s cage which has not been cleaned in a while. Oh, and let’s see, then there’s the Christmas concert coming up which I need to practice for oh and plus i have to do the children bible story at church this sunday. Oh and then there’s basketball tryouts after school tomorrow and the day after til…well, i think 5:30, maybe 6. And can I tell my parents about all this homework? Nope. Why? Because if I do, then they’ll not let me try out for basketball or do harder schoolwork next year (as in, change schools cuz their advanced program is harder) so I can’t tell my parents which means that they still expect me to come to the pet store with them even though it’s half an hour away and so that’s one hour of homework time down the drain. And today at school? Yeah, I was over-tired due to lack of sleep and so I basically acted really stupid and I think that people thought I had had some coffee or something. And all I’d had to eat all day was half a bagel. And I spent my whole lunch hour in the library trying to finish my french homework so that I wouldn’t get late marks (too late, five percent will be taken off…if it ever actually gets finished) and so yeah. Oh, and did I mention that I still need to finish arranging Christmas music cuz me and my friends only have a week to practice and audition for this Christmas ensemble thing? Cuz that makes everything that much more stressful. Oh, and I have to practice for my honor band audition…………wow. Okay, so I’m obviously needing to go do homework til I faint.
December 3rd, 2008 11:04
oh, and I need to get a dress for the Christmas banquet…that is, when I figure out what “Casual, but not too casual” means and why EVERYONE is talking about the dresses they PREORDERED at the beginning of the year. Who the heck can know what that all means?
December 3rd, 2008 11:14
Holy crap Andrea-la. (sympathy for Nicole-la) My bad days usually go like this– either some one wants to beat me up, people are mad at ME when they should be mad at pigheaded KENDRA conducting the new bus driver WRONG because she hates me.
Christmas break can’t come soon enough. Maybe, today was universally ‘A Bad Day’, a secret plot by the government to try and break those of us who stand resilient to brainwashing…Though Andrea-la’s life sounds insane. I would be on my way to the loony bin..
December 3rd, 2008 11:21
Wow! I have a concert rehersal in an hour and last I totally ran into the Piano on stage. Not good.
December 3rd, 2008 11:23
wow, that wuld b a cool book! ” Universal Bad Day” id so read it!!!! sounds lyk sumthim scott wuld writ….
December 3rd, 2008 11:26
it would make an awesome book! but what would it be about..?
December 3rd, 2008 11:32
What kind of concert rehearsal? (stupid piano…)
December 3rd, 2008 11:40
UGH! I. CAN’T. TAKE. THIS. ANYMORE. And this is before having rehersals everyday afterschool for the musical. I always have something at lunch, like a rehersal for jazz band or something, otherwise I’m in the library, skipping lunch, to study. I’m gonna have to do work all night tonight cuz I don’t wanna do it now cuz I’m too stressed. Also, Social Studies has now gone too far. I can’t do that much homework. Plus I’m gonna miss more classes cuz of extra rehersals for the Christmas concert….. I think that life is just too crazy right now…too bad I can’t just go hide under a rock til it stops being so hectic.
December 3rd, 2008 11:45
u hav a lot uv extracariculars….
December 3rd, 2008 11:45
Andrea-la, im sorry that you are so stressed maybe you should get a stress ball or something, i have one that is shaped like a porta potty! Im not joking its so funnny. Anyway, but yeah i dont know if that might help.
December 3rd, 2008 11:46
I think you need to get some lavender incense and just chill..for like a month…
December 3rd, 2008 12:20

December 3rd, 2008 12:51
i have french homework…not like i can actually do it cuz i suck at french….ugh. and now, just cuz i’m a LITTLE stressed, my mom wont let me change schools, probably. it’s not fair. and it’s not like i’m THAT stressed….i mean, it’s not stress if you’re always stressed.
December 3rd, 2008 13:10
o. m. g. PROVINCIAL HONOR BAND AUDITION MUSIC IS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pity I can’t start practicing due to large quantities of homework. Oh, who am I kidding, I’m gonna practice anyways and save the homework for some later time…or early tomorrow morning. VERY early. or late tonight, if that’s how you’d like to think of it.
December 3rd, 2008 13:12
i m not that stressed really ever, because i try 2 take each day 1 step @ a time!!!!it usually works, unless i forget an asignment!!!UGH, I HATE missing assignments!!!wel, G2G till tomorrow….laytah!!!
December 3rd, 2008 13:14
OMG, Andrea-la….i probably couldn’t survive 1 day as u!!!!!
December 3rd, 2008 13:17
UMR-wa: Yeah that doesnt should fun at all.
Eva-la: I’m in 8th grade but we learn about the Reolution every year, my teacher just really liked it and she wanted us to REALLy understand each character. What better way then acting them out. Its fun cause we sew and stuff in class like old days. I’m gonna sew tomorrow. YEA!
December 3rd, 2008 13:19
ha. trust me, it’s not as busy at it seems…more busy, actually…lol….cuz really, when i’m stressed i can be the stupidest person EVER….haha…i had to ask my friend if i could borrow a braincell and i broke it….lol…..(my band teacher saw me trip over a chair today….he now thinks i’m more insane than ever….it was very non-smart of him to tell a joke during jazz band….i was laughing for two hours during the rehersal….the person beside me told me that i should start drinking something other than coffee….) but i’m okay right now…kinda….now i’m just gonna go downstairs and do some clarinet practice.
December 3rd, 2008 13:29
Its ok. Me and my friend have this llama dance so after school we showed it to my teacher. I told her not to be scared of my but she looked terrified…
December 3rd, 2008 13:36
1.Bran-la, what kind of dance was this????
2. CAN SOMEBODY PUH-LEASE TELL ME HOW 2 COUNT 2 10 IN FRENCH 4 BALLET(why do i have ballet homework if we don’t get graded on it, its an extra curricular)
BTW:please excuse my spelling, its not all that great 2day!!LOL i went 2 bed @like 12:30(maybe thats not late 4 Andrea-la, but i usually go 2 bed @10:00 ish!!!!)
=D laytah!!!
December 3rd, 2008 13:37
un, doux, twa, cat, cinc…..i think that’s right 4 1-5, but what is 6-10?????
December 3rd, 2008 13:39
I’m pretty sure Dess counts in French up to 13 in Midnighters. You can look it up in there.
December 3rd, 2008 13:49
6-10 is: six, sept, huit, neuf, dix….i think….don’t trust my spelling….
December 3rd, 2008 13:58
Ashley-wa: Un (uh). Deux (doo). Trois (twa). Quatre (cat). Cinq (sunk). Six (sees). Sept (set). Huit (oo-eet). Neuf (nuf). Dix (dees). That’s the best I could figure for writing the pronunciations.
Try finding an online French dictionary with verbal pronunciations.
December 3rd, 2008 14:14
I saw this last week and almost got it. Wish I had. @__@
I’ll get it on Thursday when I go to pick up Beedle the Bard.
<3
December 3rd, 2008 14:16
peace out people
December 3rd, 2008 14:31
Am I the only one who, reading Scott-la’s definition of a “short story”, wishes that my English teacher would think along the same lines and not take points off when there are over four pages?
I want that! It looks really intresting.
OMG, Beedle the Bard is coming out on Thursday?! I have to get it! I was (and am) a huge Harry Potter fan, and now that the franchise is basically over (the movies just aren’t the same) I want to hold onto what ever scraps I can get! Lol.
December 3rd, 2008 14:33
Counting to 10 in French (pronunciation):
Un (uh), Duex (doo), Troise (twah), Quatre (kaht), Cinq (sank), Six (seis), Sept (set), Huit (weet), Nuef (nuff), Dix (dees).
December 3rd, 2008 15:14
my french frend tought me how to count to 10: 1= uh (eh), 2= duex (do), 3= troise (twah), 4= quatte (cat-twah), 5= cinq (sank), 6= six (sees), 7= sept (set), 8= huit (wreet), 9= nuef (nuf), 10= deux (dees)… and then she tought me how to say “wats up home-skillet biscuit” ( no spelling garuntees) g’speux mizoun skiile’ biscreu, pronunciation: gispas mizone skilly biscwy!!!
December 3rd, 2008 15:36
actually its
un, duex, trois, quatre(cat),cinq,six,sept,huit,nuef,dix
December 3rd, 2008 15:38

Okay, I’m forcing EVERYONE that has ever gone/ever goes/will ever go on this site to go to http://www.freerice.com . NOW. This isn’t one of those stupid sites like games or a blog, it is freakin AWESOME! You go there, and do some math or english or spanish or history or science tests, and I mean really EASY tests, and for every answer you get right, they’ll donate 20 grains of rice to hungry people. It rocks! I just donated 1020 grains!

December 4th, 2008 14:44
oh my gosh…okay, it’s 9:30 and I just got home. Yeah. Okay, so I left the house at 7:20am and I’m home at 9:30pm. Why? Well, I had to stay afterschool til 7:15 cuz tryouts for basketball didn’t start til 5:30, so I had to kill two hours by doing homework (and i finished it all!!!! i’m so happy!!!), then directly from basketball I went to youth group. So now I’m pretty tired. On the plus side, all homework is done and I got a good workout from the tryouts. Anyways, I’m pretty much exhausted cuz I didn’t even get to have supper and I didn’t exactly have lunch either, just kinda some snacks….actually, today I have eaten two oranges, some veggies, half a bagel, and a muffin. That is what I ate today. Why I just posted that, I have no idea. So now my parents are telling me that I need to eat real meals. Ha. Just cuz I had an orange for breakfast, some veggies, half a bagel, and another orange for “lunch”(but I had it at 10:00ish) and had a muffin for “supper”(i had it at 4:00ish) doesn’t mean I’m not eating enough…I’m just adjusting to my lifestyle. But, I did get all my homework done and I can probably manage getting to bed at 10:00 tonight. And that’s pretty good. So I’ve been really busy, and tomorrow I’ll get to repeat it…kinda. Just I don’t have youth group tomorrow, and we get to have tryouts directly after school…not two hours after school. So I’ll get home by 6:00 tomorrow…probably with more homework, but again, I’m totally caught up in all my classes now. Well, I still need to arrange the music and all that, but other than that I’m pretty much okay. But honestly, I had two spares today, and so I guess I did a total of four hours of homework today to get caught up, being assigned no new homework today. So yeah. Now I’m just gonna go to bed….and oh crap…nevermind, I still need to memorize lines for the french play….so yeah, I do have homework, I’m just not gonna do it immediatly cuz I don’t have it with me and I’m on the verge of fainting…oh and I really need a shower…lol….okay, leaving now….

Scott, THANK YOU!!!
I just got BtoB and saw my name in the dedication!! Thank you so much, yo made my week=)
December 5th, 2008 07:02
Thanks for visiting my blog, Kate-la. FreeRice is pretty cool. I found out about it on some girl named Dahlia’s blog. I’M READING TWILIGHT AND ITS IS THE AWESOMEST THING EVER (other than scott’s books) But still, in fact, now Twighlight is my fav. book. I just wish they’d get back to the love scenes. I’m in the middle of a boring-ish part, page 346.
December 5th, 2008 07:02
Off to read Twilight! Bye-bye.
December 5th, 2008 08:34
i started re-reading the Uglies series 2day!!=D even better than the 1st time because i understand it more!!!! laytah!!
December 5th, 2008 08:53
amira-la:
I read Twilight before Scott’s work, but I soon realized just how much better at everything Scott is. His characters are developed, interesting and ORIGINAL, his plots are continous and unexpected, he isn’t afraid of dealing with hard questions and killing main characters and he is nice and thankfull to his fans instead of being the raving b*tch Stephenie turned into.
December 5th, 2008 11:08
very correct Irene-la!!!!
December 5th, 2008 11:10
lol…so tired from tryouts…..
December 5th, 2008 11:18
i got service hours 4 confirmation 2day!!!!!!i only need 6 more 4 this quarter and i m good until next quarter!!!!!…..i m tired from History class(soooo boring even though i like history, but only certain things)…..my fav. history times/people are
1.the Revolution(in America), so many fun facts durring that time, and a very interresting war!!!
2.I LUVVV ANISTASIA ROMANOV, she is soooo fun 2 learn about!!!
3. my family history *James Buchanan* is somehow related 2 me!!!
December 5th, 2008 11:20
i found out that my Bible teacher last year was somehow related to me. so yeah. and i’m doing service hours at my chuch and i’m almost done for the year!
December 5th, 2008 11:25
that’s cool….but how did u not know u were related 2 that person??
December 5th, 2008 11:26
cuz it was all, ummm, his wife’s cousin is married to my auntie’s brother or something….
December 5th, 2008 11:29

December 5th, 2008 11:29

December 5th, 2008 11:32

December 5th, 2008 11:34
i had a 89% average and my parents are finding it necessary to go. it sucks. and their going to see my band teacher (93%) and my science teacher (91%)….i don’t see the point.
December 5th, 2008 11:35
unfortunatly, those are the teachers that know i’m kinda weird, and my parents don’t know that i’m weird, so yeah…if my mom finds out, she’ll be so mad….she wishes i was a happy little girl who liked to go shopping with her friends…HA…i like to talk about books, scream about metaphorical lemon shoes, and write down random things….my parents don’t get that.
December 5th, 2008 11:36
me either!!! i actually started this quarter w/ an F in math!!!! my math teacher is no good @teaching!!
December 5th, 2008 11:41

December 5th, 2008 11:48
What is metaphorical lemon shoes Andrea-la?????
December 5th, 2008 11:49
why were u doing something w/ fire in math??
December 5th, 2008 11:52
i can’t explain metaphorical lemon shoes……it’s very complicated.
and we started a fire in math cuz the teacher was doing a magic trick.
December 5th, 2008 11:53
ur teachers a magician?!?!?
December 5th, 2008 11:55
OMG that sounds hillarious!!LOL
i looked on ur blog, can’t find the lemon shoes!!
December 5th, 2008 11:56
my math teacher isn’t a magician….he was probably just trying to do something interesting…..
look harder, there is probably something there, but check from a couple months ago.
December 5th, 2008 12:00

((I know, it’s kind of sad…at least her kids will go to a good college.))
December 6th, 2008 00:34
Whoa. Lemon shoes. And the lemon rotting out the teeth makes sense because you said that when you lose you’re metaphorical teeth it’s like loosing a hobby, and lemons are bad things that happen to you, SO THEREFORE by eating lemons(bad things) you loose a tooth (a hobby or something important.). Andrea-la I love you’re insanity.
December 6th, 2008 02:17
lol…it’s my insanity which made me get a good grade in science class…lol…apparently my science teacher loves my out of the box thinking and how i make connections to everyday life (i just found this out yesterday due to the fact that my mom went to parent teacher last night). And my mom and dad went to see my band teacher and they were so afriad cuz they thought he might ask them to play something (and they both aren’t exactly musical….) but the teacher just told them that i have a gift for music and he can tell that i enjoy every second of it. which is good. the only “negative” comment from either teacher is from my science teacher who wants me to ask more questions in class for his own sake cuz he thinks they could start some interesting discussions. yeps. looks like now i should be asking my questions outloud rather than contemplating them while he talks about something that i already understand. so yeah. parent teacher interviews went well.
December 7th, 2008 02:03
thats good Andrea-la!!!=D
December 9th, 2008 09:29
I just bought this last night and read “stupid perfect world”..I wish it had been even longer, but great story
December 15th, 2008 02:01
I want to buy it but my mom wold be upset abot the hell thing…
Mabe i can sneek it out of the library…
She wouldn’t knotice checking out book…
Or tell her it’s on of those stupid love story novels she likes to read(its soooo not)..
Oh by the way what does anthrology mean
December 15th, 2008 02:10
you know Andrea-la I think i have your same science teacher but mines a woman.Maybe it’s just a gene all science teachers have…
Just a couple weeks ago she tried to get david kim (name says it all) to sing to the lions sleep tonight in Lion King(don’t ask)
Last week when we made paper dolls she danced with her’s.
Now i have to endure her for the rest of the school year or go back to regular(i heard teachers were even meaner there(I’m in probe/gifted/smart classes)) Also she has a bit of a mean streak that can be prominent.
December 15th, 2008 02:48
Abby-wa, is david kim a girl or boy on idk(unknown)???=D
December 15th, 2008 02:58
okay, have you guys ever noticed that all science teachers seem to buy their glasses at the same place?
December 15th, 2008 03:02
not really because my science teacher doesn’t wear glasses(yet)…..she’s just reeeealy fat=D
December 15th, 2008 03:03
fat enough 2 get a handicapped thing on her car!!!
December 15th, 2008 05:39
seriously, all the science teachers i’ve had have ALL had the same glasses…actually, they all look pretty much the same…kinda creepy, lol.
December 15th, 2008 06:05
thats weird, maybe they all shop 2gether 4 clothes& glasses
December 15th, 2008 19:37
ohh cool
cant wait
December 27th, 2008 15:46
It’s kind of ironic. I thought Fan Fictions had sounded kind of cool, and it was one that I was most looking forward to, besides Stupid Perfect World, with Love Struck being the one I was least excited about. However, I found Fan Fictions kind of boring and confusion-inducing (although I did realise A LOT of the Twilight similarities. There must have been some MAJOR copywrite-infringing going on there), and it was my least favorite, with Love Struck, Sleeping With the Spirit, and (of course) Stupid Perfect World being my favorites (with Thinner than Water being somewhere in between. Although I must say, it was one of those stories where you had NO idea whatsoever where the title came from).
The thing is, reading them, every page or so I’d be like “NOOOOO! ELABORATE MORE, DARN IT!” Some were so good, I wish they’d been written as actual novels rather than mini stories.
And I have to say, Scott did it again. I thought his had sounded a bit boring and uncreative (I mean, a class project brining two people together? Big whoop, they work on it together, and while spending time with eachother, fall in love.), but it was so far from what I’d expected!
But seriously, does ANY ONE have any idea what really happened in Fan Fictions?!
January 3rd, 2009 11:28
My goshhhhh.
I ended up buying it the second I walked into the bookstore that week and was reading it in the car afterwards.
I love it sooooooooooooo much.
I’ll have to agree with the Thinner than Water title. Is it suppose to go with the whole blood is thicker than water phrase??
Which I just got if it is by the way.
But the story was adorable.
Sleeping with the Spirit was good too, but I always did like ghost stories.
Stupid Perfect World was by far my favorite and I was sooo in love when they had that argument and the drama teacher was all….. Take notes! That’s what real drama looks like! <3
And With Love Struck, nearly squealed when I figured out he was a selkie.
Basically, I was in love with the whole thing.
And want to reread it for the 28th time right now hahah
January 5th, 2009 06:32
ya I have only read the first one so far and I loved it.
I skipped ahead to the fanfiction one to see if it was making fun of something(sadly it wasn’t). So now I don’t really feel like finishing it, but Zevin is one of my favourite authors(and her storie is coming out much better than Meyers crap)
January 18th, 2009 07:48
Okay, I was finally able to get Love is Hell. I loved it. My favorite story just happened to be Stupid Perfect World. Not even joking. I loved the others, but, Scott, you’re like a God.
March 17th, 2009 09:18
Oh my god! I just got and finished that book today! It was awesome!
~As always Scott-la’s writing was incredible. I truly loved that story, though it made me sleepy. =]
~Thinner Than Water almost made me cry! It was a beautiful story, but I really wish it ended differently. =`[
~Love Struck was my favorite (sorry Scott-la) I’m a sucker for happy endings. =P
~Fan Fictions was okay, until about half way through. It ended really sad. I liked Aaron, and it was sad what happed to Paige. Plus that the end was just a little creepy.
~I love that Ghost Story! It ended in one of those sad-yet-happy twists. It was so sweet!
