Title: Theme for Uglies
Post by: juliettee on December 06, 2013, 06:06:28 AM
Does anybody know a good theme for the books?
Like is it something like fighting for rights to be yourself? Or something like if everybody is pretty normal people gets ugly?

Yeah? It is for a school project ;3

I'd say its more about being comfrotable with who you are. And the dangers of conformity. And control.
Or something...I dunno. I spend half my time re-reading the books imagining Specials being shredded by gauss rifle-weilding soldiers.

Straif couldn't have said it better. Also I think it's a bit of a social commentary on how our society has created unmeetable standards for beauty, and how the elite few in government positions consider themselves to be 'special' and don't follow the rules they themselves make, and a warning to be careful with our planet.

I feel bad for you. Uglies was such an amazing book and I would hate to have it ruined by school.

I think the biggest theme seen in Uglies is that you are who are. No matter what society does to you, your brain is powerful enough to think itself back it's natural settings.
