Title: Help!
Post by: Beth-la on August 04, 2010, 07:18:43 AM
Okay, so I haven't yet read Peeps, The Last Days, or So Yesterday, and I need help. Is it a trilogy? If so, what order do you read them in? I tried to figure it out at the bookstore, and I got confused. If you can help me out here, I'd be super grateful!

So Yesterday is really a standalone, but they are considered a trilogy because they all take place in NYC.
Read Peeps before The Last days because they're a... duo? The Last Days is Peep's sequel. It really doesn't matter when you read So Yesterday, it's irrelevent.

Yeah Peeps is first then Last Days. So yesterday is just a stand alone. They just got put together on the boards because they all take place in NYC.

When I was at the bookstore the only one they had was Peeps, I didn't even know there were any others. I just bought and read it, and then heard about the Last Days and So Yesterday.

Really? I only had enough money left for one book, and I didn't want to get the 2nd in the series if I hadn't read the first for obvious reasons, so I didn't take any chances. But now I know, so yay! ;D

I feel like rambling on, so bear with me.....
I just got Peeps today at the library, and I'm only 3 chapters into it, but it seems pretty good. I'm excited to read the rest.

I'm trying to get some of my friends to start reading them, but I've been shoving City of Bones in their faces for months, so that somes first... and then its two sequels... The suspense is killing me, I'm the only one of my friends who's read any of Scott-la's books except Uglies/Pretties/Specials/Extras.

Arghhh...same here. My friends all say they sound dumb, and I get really mad. I read City of Bones because my only bookworm friend told me about them, and now those are my second favorite book series, and in return I told her about Uglies and Midnighters. You know there's gonna be 3 more books in the mortal instruments series, right?

I read that on Cassandra Clare's website and I'm SO excited. I love the Mortal Instruments! I have the hardcover of City of Glass, which lacks the excerpts from Clockwork Angel and TMI4, so I might have to just read them in the bookstore... lol.
I hate it when people say a book sounds dumb, especially when I ask what books they like. No offence to those series, but a book about magic pants that travel and a book about a 109 year old vampire that sparkles sound a lot dumber to me than a book about people who kill demons and a book about a futuristic society... but that's just my opinion. I have several bookworm friends, but I have trouble getting them to read Scott-la's books because their uniformal response is, "Well, I don't really read science fiction that much..." *changes subject*. It's hard to explain that the story isn't a bunch of science-geek rambling, or a Star Wars-y thing. Do not judge a book by its genre. :D

Yeah, I'm super excited. I already read the excerpts form COFA and CA, and they are amazing!
I have the same problem. My one other bookworm friend read like, 12 pages of The Secret Hour, and quit because she said it was boring. Then, she spent 6 months of her life obsessing over Twilight.
IKR???? Don't EVER judge a book by it's genre. Two years ago, I cringed at the thought of Sci/Fi, thinking it was aliens and dumb stuff like that. Then, I finally read a Sci/Fi book, (Uglies, to be exact)  and my opinion changed entirely. It's my favorite genre now.

Twilight.... *cringe* my lunch table in seventh grade was so twilight obsessed that I left them under the agreement that if they could have a conversation lasting all lunch with no mention of vampires, werewolves, robert pattinson, etc, I'd rejoin them. It took three months... but by then I'd started sitting with some of the boys.
I love scifi now! Well, I got into Uglies in sixth or seventh grade, so a couple years ago, but didn't really know Scott-la had any other books because no one really talked about them... plus bookstores around here shelf them separately since Uglies is so popular.

I went through a Twilight phase for about 4 or 5 months a year or two ago, but then I realized how ridiculous I was acting. I'm ashamed of it now. :D
My aunt sent me a big box of books last year, and I threw everything away except Uglies (the others books were dumb ) because the cover caught my attention. Then I read it and fell in love. ;D Then I read Midnighters, which were awesome. I'm in the middle of both Peeps and So Yesterday right now. But yeah, Scifi's the best!

I just finished Leviathan, now I have to finish Blue Noon. I started Uglies because my friend told me to and I was sick, so my mom picked it up for me. I read it all in one sitting :D

hahah...I went over to my friend's house in the middle of reading Uglies, and I kept reading it while I was over there. She got really annoyed. :)
Haven't read Leviathan yet. Wish I could get my hands on it though.

It's really good. Lol. And my friends have a habit of coming to my house to read MY books, which is probably worse. lol. One time my friends came over, and while I was painting her portrait and trying to talk to her she read half of one of my books, wrote the beginning of a song in my notebook and fell asleep in my bed. Lol.

hahha. I have also done the same. Everytime I go over to my friend's house, I always end up staying up late and reading one of her books while she's asleep.

Once I couldn't wake her up in the morning, and when she finally got up, I asked her why she was so tired. She said, "I was up all night reading that stupid book you gave me!" I said, "You could have gone to sleep..." She said, "But it was so good! I had to finish it!"
"THen why was it stupid?"
"Because it was so good!"
