Title: Leviathan Universe Wargame
Post by: ArgonWolf on February 22, 2011, 05:05:04 AM
Alright, so i'm an avid player of Warhammer 40k, but ive dabbled in games like warmachine and 40k space battles. As soon as i read Leviathan and Behemoth i knew: This universe would make great source material for a (unofficial, of course) tabletop wargame. So far i can think of at least 4 forces to use off the top of my head. Darwinist Britain, Austro-Hungarian/German forces, Loyalist Ottoman, and Ottoman Rebel forces. Oh, wait, five forces. The Russian Bears. Not the mention you could write up rules for Japan and America. The main issue would be balancing the game to have a fair amount of naval and land segments, since a good deal of the battles in the books are naval in nature, and i also want to be able to include Kraken rules. But you also have to have land elements so you can bring the Clanker walkers in to the picture. Maybe have two lists for each army? what they can take for naval battles and what they can take for land battles, and the players decide land or naval before the battle?
Comments and feedback gladly accepted

They should make a Leviathan Risk, or Axis and Allies: Leviathan

That's a great idea I would buy that if they made it!

That sounds like an interesting idea. I've never played a tabletop game but I have friends who love them.

It would entail a lot of personal work and such.

If we could build giant walkers and mutants animals I wouldnt mind a Leviathan LARPG. But since the universe we live in is suckishly boring we would have to settle for a Tabletop RPG.

Alright. So i was planning on cannibilizing the Battle Fleet Gothic rules made for Warhammer 40k, but after a quick look at those, it isnt gonna work, even with a few tweaks. Anyone have a suggestion for an already existing wargame that might serve as a basis for a Leviathan wargame? Otherwise im gonna have to come up with a system myself, and that's alot of work :-\
