Title: Will Shay ever be more than just the sidekick?
Post by: Emma-la on January 29, 2010, 11:08:35 AM
Shay is always second-best and sidekick. She never gets to change herself, except for with the Cutters. So what would it have been like if She hadn't been Just a sidekick? What if she got back together with Zane? What if? What could happen if Shay ever got a more major role? If she got a lot more attention than Tally? Reversed! What would have happened in the book? DISCUSS!

I remeber Scott saying that he'd be realy interested in writing Uglies from Shay's POV which would be awsome, Shay is my fav. character, btw I don't think she was ever with Zane... but the what ifs are fun

I think Shay is definitely a better person than Tally. But I wonder if her point of view would be very repetitive, because she's always thinking about Tally. That's what makes her such a good sidekick.

Me too. It'd be super cool if he wrote a book from her POV.

When was that? When Tally and Zane had the wrist-cuffs? I can't remember very well.

It would be interesting to read the books from Shay's point of view, but i also agree with TTB in that it might be a bit repetetive

Yeah, I'd like being in Shay's head when she was cutting... it would be eye-opening and dizzy-making at the same time!

Well, Zane tells you most of what happened (or the Specials-Dr C.?). I think. But ya, it would be repetitive.

TTB is right about the repetitiveness so maybe he could make a book like Bogus to bubbly, maybe it could be narrated By Shay telling about her experiences in the books and her friendship with Tally.

That would make a good book.

Wow, that would be great! (I'm still hoping for a book like Mind-Rain, except with essays written by teen fans, not other authors.) I'd also like more background on Dr Cable. I bet she has a really heart-wrenching story about becoming Special.

I still haven't read Mind-Rain, so I don't really know what you're talking about there. I have to wait till my local library buys it.
