Title: I HAVE THE LOCATION OF THE SMOKE.
Post by: SteampunkButterfly on May 11, 2012, 09:26:32 AM
Thank you, chapter 22 of Shay's Story. Type in N40.492, W121.508 in Google Maps and you'll find it.

Checked that with Kohela, ironically. She says it's somewhere in northern California.

It's a random patch of trees and dirt at the base of a mountain. Sounds pretty accurate.

Yeah. Albiet it's shown to be to the north east of Tally's city (coughSeattlecough) in the pictures...the hell is Westerfeld doing?
Also, wonder what the hell is actually there...

Scott-la clearly thinks we're in METRIC latitude.
Just kidding, there's no such thing. But C'MON, Scott-sama. It should DEFINITELY be in Idaho. Idaho needs some love :3

Or at the very least eastern Washington/Canada. But I like to think it's in Idaho.

Idaho is the most unappreciated state in the country. They need SOMETHING. I think it's really funny when teachers go on about how they think things are in Idaho (As in, grabbing the most obscure-sounding rural state they could think of) and then I raise my hand and say, "You do know it's nothing like that, right? It's exactly like here except the houses are farther away, there are farms, the seafood isn't fresh, and the people are less racist and unpleasant."

Idaho=spuds. That's it. On, and it has Silverwood Amusement Park. Nice place. Other than that...your right. Dead nothing.
Though I would think-oh right, you're in Cape Cod. Can't get much fresher than that. Unless you have a fishermen's terminal like we do where you can by your fish right off the boat.

You can, but most people eat it at restaurants. The part of the population that does their own food shopping either doesn't know how to cook fish or can't afford it.
Yeah, you can pretty much assume that if you're eating fish at a restaurant it was swimming that morning. Misaki, the sushi place I wish I could afford to eat at regularly, has a break in the mid afternoon where they close the restaurant and go to the harbor to buy more just-caught fish, after doing so that morning.

Pity. Still, dead fresh seafood is awesome. Hell yeah for coasts.

Yup. I don't know what I'll do if I move to ID and can't get sushi.

At least not fresh sushi. They have joints there...they just aren't very good.

Well, you bring up such good points, and it just goes from there. But, on topic; you know anyone from that era of California? We could ask them to find it with a GPS unit and tell us whats there.

I like it in Cali. It makes sence. But Ohio would be awesome.

Maybe, I guess. But everything I read said it was to the north-east of Tally's city, which according to the maps in Shay's Story and Bogus to Bubbly is a couple hours West of the reamines of Seattle.

Oh. Sorry. Kinda hard to tell over the internet.
Still, having it be in Ohio would be cool, I agree.

Well, in this story I'm writing, I'll put a place in Idaho. Just so Idaho will get some awesome recognition.

Khoela will be pleased. As will I. Huh, should probably get back to working on that Uglies fic I was doing with her. Problem was no one read it on DeviantArt.

I would put it somewhere else, like fanfiction.net. People WILL read it there.
