Title: Music for scenes in Uglies
Post by: eviethecyborg on March 26, 2010, 12:13:26 AM
What music do you think would go well with some of the scenes in Uglies, if/when it's made into a movie?

To start off, I was thinking the song "Popular" by The Veronicas (go on, look it up xD) could be playing at the party Tally crashes in the beginning when she's looking for Peris.

Well after being entranced by your Avatar and almost killing myself laughing I would like to put forward Belle & Sebastian (I've mentioned this ons Scott's blog) tho i can't remeber the best song... will get back with that :)

and i'll check out your choice :)

edit: End credit song for the movie, Sleep the Clock Around by Belle & Sebastian http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_rrgXCjr0M (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_rrgXCjr0M) with lyrics http://www.metrolyrics.com/sleep-the-clock-around-lyrics-belle-and-sebastian.html (http://www.metrolyrics.com/sleep-the-clock-around-lyrics-belle-and-sebastian.html)

Haha thanks XD

Whoah. The lyrics really go with it 0.0 'Specially with lines like "read the letter you got from the memory girl" and "But the people are living faraway from this place, where you wanted to help, it's a bit of  waste." and "There's a lot to be done but your head is still young" and and "could this be the time when somebody with come to say, look at yourself, you're not much use to anyone.."

Holy bajeebas XD Geniusss!

That song you picked is PERFECT!! It gave me a mental image of an overhead view of New Pretty Town, panning along, and then zooming in and following Tally as she sneakily moves about in the shadows and into the Mansion =D

The makers of this movie (fingers crossed) should really hand over the music work to the fans ;)

Eeee I'm glad you think so! It did the same for me =D

They should! Absolutely. Music can either do a lot of good for a movie, or, you know, destroy it entirely. The fans are the ones who know exactly what kind of stuff it needs ^_^

Another song suggestion: Postal Service- This place is a prison. I'm not sure which part this could go with though.

OMFG WOW!!!! I don't think it goes well with Uglies but if they ever make Pretties I will hunt down the sound guy and threaten him with bubbleheaded surge if they don't include that in the soundtrack!!

It fits right in when Tally is saying bogus things but doesn't know why... reminded me of the roof scene when we first meet Zane :)

I was going to post some of the lyrics, then after i'd decided which ones I realised I'd only left out a line... and I thought posting the entire song might be a bit too much =p

IF ANYONE READS THIS LISTEN TO THAT SONG!!!!

i know it doesnt mean me, but yes i use gig  :D  i thought everyone did, it surprises me how many things are just used in the UK
wow, i love green day, they must have been amazing live
my first gig was so embarassing, it can't even be called a gig, i was 5 and forced my mum and nan to take me and my sister to see Daniel O'Donnell because for some reason i loved him... my second gig wasn't much better, that was Westlife, who i also loved at the time  :-[

Hmmm, it might have originated from that :) lets UD it :) http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gig (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=gig) just for the crack :)

I would actually love to see Westlife live, as far as talent goes, the lead singer is UNREALL!!! And Green Day were, as you so rightly predicted, amazing ;) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sorry for double posting... Sorry sorry sorry sorry sorry =P

i have never been to a gig

In all honest you're not missing out on much =P unless you have a deep love of a specific band (or you want to meet new people) a Gig really isn't worth the money imo... not when some tickets are £50 (thats $75 at the current exchange?)

i remember my friends and i using urban dictionary to define "Emo" hehe
westlife, lol, i was quite young and it was another family outing
i'm still devestated that i should have been at what would probably have been the best gig of my life in january, Michael Jackson, but that didnt happen (for obvious reasons)   :'(

i love going to gigs, but its always disappointing when the standing tickets are sold out and you have to go to the seating area where the atmosphere isnt as good

Shame... dance, trance, house, psychedelic are my favs =p listen to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5JWDlj8ulY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5JWDlj8ulY) it's none of the forementioned genres (it's actually chip tunes) but it was possibly the best music i've ever heard live (played on a gameboy as the guy dances around stage pressing buttons) ;)

what about in the movie if they made their own music, because im sure none of the bands we have now days were around for tally to listen too. so i think it should fit on with the time period.

If they made specific music for a movie, what genre do you think it should be?? :)

And on another note, in Specials when Zane dies I always hear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTkzyyv0DuA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTkzyyv0DuA) (Ludovico Einaudi - Nuvole Biance)... It has the perfect level of sad reminisce... and is also imo the most beautiful piece of music ever played

like im not really sure. like orchastra music thats really intense, so it fits in, very dramatic!

i listened to the piano piece, i agree it would be good for when zane dies, piano is a good instrument for when sad things happen, and i prefer its sound to that of a violin usually

I like the idea... would you have the entire film as that?? :) and any links as to what you think might work?? :)

This is going to sound really weird but I think a strong piece of solo violin is the best way to portray a slow, intense chase scene (best example of this is in the film Hitman) :)

do any of you watch the tv show Lost? well the person who does the music, Michael Giacchino, would be great at doing the music for uglies! his music can be really intense and he can do sad too! i think it would work great!
heres a link to a song that i think would work for like tally running through the junge or something.
