Actually yes,  this is pretty much a tiny MEDUSA,  or a even smaller,  land based ODIN.

I'm only like 1/8th into Infernal Devices, but I went ahead and read the wiki for it, and A Darkling Plain. Wow. Seems chaotic to say the least. Must be the only book where *censored for the sake of KDE*, except Shrike. (This forum needs a spoiler highlighter). And the ending was a huge inception... Well, i figgured that out the last time. Probably the saddest series I will ever read.  :(

A Darkling Plain is a mess. There are about four story lines or so going on and when the [Insert Spoilery Bits Here] it's just insane. And that ending. When Grike (US versions are weird) [Insert Spoilery Bits Here]. The best non-spoilery part is the brother's named "Lego" and "Duplo". I nearly died laughing.

It's so wierd how things in science fiction often get turned into things in real life. For example, flip phones are based off of the communicators from Star Trek.

I read the entire plot on wiki. Yeap. Seriously, *Whoops, I forgot KDE was not done with it.* Nevermind, its just really sad.

I spoiled the ending while researching on the ME series before even reading the 1st book. So yeah, no harm knowing everything while i was at it...

I read the wiki page like a month before I started ME,  I forgot everything about all the books aside from infernal devices.

I remembered the ending... and the plot of Mortal Engines. Forgot everything from books 2-4... If a movie does make it, i hope they change the ending. It's possible.  :( (Since the ending for Dark of the Moon was originally intended for optimus and megatron to reconcile, and fly back to cybertron with autobots/decepticons to rebuild their home planet. Yeah, sounds alot like my little pony, but that was the way it ended in the original script draft and the novel).

Well, the 1st movie has not even hit production yet...

I don't want the ending changed. In fact, I'm going to walk out of theater pointing out every little bit cut out or changed. The movie is in good hands, but if they change Hester's appearance there will be hell to pay.

I really hope they start work on it after they finish production on The Hobbit, so we'll have it as soon as possible.

I think Phillip discussed about hester's appearance before. It will still be a scar no doubt, but he says it would not be as he imagined it in his head as a huge gash through a face. If it was the scar was that gaping huge, it would be really disturbing to see for the whole movie and not meet like PG standards or so... Still, no production has been done. Phillip said he was shown pre-production art... but that was years ago and no info was shown to him from then... :(

Also, I'm gonna be real pissed if they use Grike instead of Shrike.

He confirmed that Peter Jackson is producing and directing it, and I see no reason they'd stop production. I just wish we had some facts to go off of. All I've heard are rumors of it being in pre-production.

That's what i said. It's in pre-production, and phillip has not been told of any more work done since the concept artworks and draft from years back.  :(

I read the Amerikan Fever Crumb and the British A Web of Air.

Someone is selling a copy of Scriverner's Moon on Amazon for $120! I could buy the whole Mortal Engines Quartet in first editions for that much.

Probably not. 1st edition hard cover? 1st print? nope. They cost at least $50 a book for 1st print, so that's $200. (I actually checked. :( ) I only got the 2007 softcover reprints... it has the 1st edition images and the nice vaccum metalized words so i'm find..

Except for mortal engines, which i mistakenly bought the new windmills one (it's smaller, and pink!) Oh well, at least it's hardcover, with teh 1st edition image and costed only $10+... I might attempt to get the 2007 Softcover reprints just to make my shelf look complete.  ;D

Anyways, I read about Tesla yesterday and here is a small list of things he did:
- Created a small earthquake
- Created a 130 ft lightning bolt
- Used wireless electricity to light 200 light bulbs 26 miles away
- Melted his assistant's hand (too many x-rays)
- Claimed to be able to split the world in half
- Began a project that would give the whole earth free electricity but the governments stopped him (free electricity == no money)

May have done:
- With his free electricity (unfinished) tower obliterated a huge area in Russia (called the Tunguska event) with the energy of over 1000 nuclear bombs... in 1908.
He was, what you might call: A true mad scientist.

More thing he done.

-Save the earth from a alien mutant race by resurrecting Optimus Prime in the 1880s with a sort of balloon that drew energy from the electromagnetic field in the ionosphere...

He also made lightning guns (or tried to. He couldn't get the money for it). And had a thing for pidgeons.

And he invented FM radio...
Title: Re: Sounds like a tesla canon

He also invented a form of fluorescent light, which he used --along with AC current (which he also invented)-- to light the 1893 Chicago World's Fair after Edison refused to let him use the Edison incandescent bulb.

He was also obsessed with the number 3.

And his patents were seized by the US Government after his death. Including his designs for a death ray. So perhaps this new lightning gun is based on a Tesla design.
