Not all commercial cider is super sweetened, I've had some really nice ones that weren't.

I'd like to point out that underage consumption of alcohol in limited amounts isn't bad for brain development, only excessive amounts. So long as you aren't getting drunk, it is fine. A glass of wine as a 14 year old or whatever won't make a difference.

A number of countries have the legal age at 16 for beer and wine and then 18 for hard alcohol, and these places allow younger people to drink in the presence of adults. Similarly to how some states allow kids to drink under the supervision of their parents, even out at restaurants (Wisconsin).

Right. Excessive drinking can be damaging at any age. However, limited amounts can be beneficial.

Aw man, I missed the alcohol chat :'(

In 10 months I can legally drink in NY, which I am psyched for :P I've tried sips of beer (nasty) and wine (okay). At a
wedding in November I had six glasses of champagne (loved). When I turn, there is a drink called Viniq I wanna try.
It's a liqueur/vodka that sparkles and glimmers like the galaxy!

Champagne is the only alcohol that I actually want to try :P

I've heard that the space liqueur tastes like cough syrup :P

I'd probably like fruity drinks that don't  taste alcohol, though I have yet to try those.  :P
I don't know if I'd like champagne, I don't really like wine that much I'm not sure adding carbonation would make it that much better.

Anything in excessive amounts, even water, is bad for you. Moderation is the key.

And as for drinking age, I'm more concerned about mental maturity. You can have a super responsible 17 year old and an immature 21 year old. Who would you trust with the alcohol?

Champagne gives you bubbles up your nose, which tickles, but its a "dry" tasting alcohol.

Vodka and strawberry daiquiris are they way to go.
