It's not about Taylor specifically. It's about this trend of super ego-filled song lyrics (Meghan Trainor is the greatest offender of this) The song is literally called "Me!" and it just-- bothers me. She might be trying to be ironic or satirical (like with Blank Space), but it definitely doesn't come off that way. Not to mention, the song itself is just boring. I feel like I've heard another 1000 songs just like it in the last few years.
I thought her inclusion of Brendon Urie would amp the song up a little, but they just take turns singing the melody and when they do sing together, they aren't even HARMONIZING?! It's just so bland. You can either really hear Taylor or really hear Brendon and it gets to be confusing at times like "Are they both singing right now? Or just one of them? Why are they singing in the same range?" They are both technically solo acts now and I KNOW they both know how to harmonize, sooooo why not? Why are they being so boring with this?
I just hate it and it's only been out 2 days I've already heard it 4 times.
