Should there be another book?
« on: June 17, 2010, 10:00:07 AM »

ok I just finished reading Extra's a couple days ago and it just seems/feel like that there should be another book after it because of how it ended

"Come on, it's almost midnight. Let's go watch them cut the cake." < that's it...nothing else...

most of the books I've read...don't end like there is going to be another book after it...it like gives false hope for another book wondering what happened after the fact

...i don't know....I know I have to like explain this out and give info to support my side but it just honestly feels like this series is incomplete because of that last sentence in the book

Well, all the books ended that way.

Totally get what your saying.  I remember Scott said all the books the last word was the title of the next book, and that he would have to name the next book if their is one should be Cakes.lol. I actually started a thread about maybe there should be a collection of short stories or a prequel about the creation of the Smoke. If you want to check it out its called Uglies Novella.

I don't think there should be another book. All the questions are tied up now, so anything else would probably feel labored. Better to go out when you're on top, right?

Yes, I do agree there shouldn't  be a continuation, but I do think he could do a prequel or a book of short stories.

doubting it. i'm on fanfiction pretty much everyday and i scan for new and interesting fics.
there's one called "something more than special" and it has some interesting concepts, but last time i checked, it hasn't been updated for a while.

A lot of the time, fanfiction completely changes the characters and makes impossible scenarios. Some are okay, though.

I think there should be a prequel of sorts- one with a Rusty as the main character.

I would really love to see how one would have survived and helped create one of the cities.

Or or or, a parallel book describing everything from the point of view outside of the main characters of the Uglies series. Like some random person who happened to see the hot air balloon and didn't know wtf was going on and drew his/her own conclusions about it.

Anyone else up for this?
