Uglies Movie
« on: July 19, 2015, 09:18:12 AM »

Hi!

I've been searching the web for information about an Uglies movie and haven't found anything new. It seems in 2006 the rights were bought by a production company, but eventually dropped, and then re-bought by a different company in 2011. A screenwriter was hired by this company in 2011. But after that, I can't find anything!!!

I know Scott Westerfeld mentioned over the past few years a tv series. So what's going on??

One of my reasons for asking, on top of being a huge fan of the series and wanting a movie, is that I am a film student and if a script hasn't been written I would want to write one. Even if it is completely unrealistic that my written screenplay would actually be taken for the film adaptation as I'm just a film student, it would just be fun to write. But if it has already been written it seems weird for me write one.

So does anybody know anything about the status?? Thanks!!

Hello and Welcome to the Forum!
I have asked myself this question HUNDREDS of times.
I don't think that they have started on the Uglies Movie,
BUT I have heard that they are finding new actors for a new movie.
Hopefully that is Uglies. They won't release the title.
It may even be the company that bought the rights in 2011.
But who knows?

I really want the movie as well.
Heck I have even played what I imagine to be the movie in my head dozens of times.
So we are on the same boat.
Stuck in the middle of a Fandom ocean with a rumor as a paddle and a secret as a sail.

Once again welcome to the Forum Breefish!

Pretty sure its vaporwork, in the same place as Half Life 3 and the Mortal Engines movie.
Probably pretty hard to get support for a series like it when there's the horde of HG and Maze Runner fans currently blowing everything up...

Hunger Games production is already over though, unless they actually decide to go through with the discussed prequel (really hoping they don't.)

At the moment the world is in the Marvel (Not complaining)
and Teen Movie phase (complaining)
HG and Maze Runner may be cool in effects and CGI
But that is only because they receive the most attention and money
Bring out Uglies already!

They do
Order of Events:
1. War between people
2. Utter destruction
3. Panem is the stronger of the war torn people
4. Panem rises and holds its position above the districts
5. Panem is richer due to resources provided from Districts
6. Panem controls the hope and fear of the districts via the HUNGER GAMES
7. Dystopian Goverment!
