Andrew felt terrible for imposing on Alexis and Jenny but it seemed they were at a standstill so he entered the apartment as she led them in. He looked over at Autumn and grinned slightly; seeing that Jenny and Alexis were together still, he assumed their date had gone over well after all.

"Sounds to me like you've already got a plan in mind?" Grayson asked her. "Whatever it is, I'm game."

"I was thinking food fight," Sophie said. "But I think that's mild. I just can't think up anything else with this stupid brain fog that comes with the medication. It's like slogging through a bog."

--

Autumn walked in and sat down in one of the chairs in the kitchen. "So," she said, eyeing Alexis and Jenny, a mischievous twinkle apparent, "looks like things are going well?"

Alexis felt her cheeks heat up and she shrugged. “And if they were?” Dont you dare meddle, it was only one date. There was plenty of time for things to go wrong.

"Then we're just excited for you," Andrew said with a shrug as he took a seat beside Autumn. "so....I guess we should probably tell you, we're not moving to Canada afterall," Andrew announced. He was realizing just how many people he would have to break that news too; he had yet to call his dad, a conversation he was dreading. His dad had been so excited about Andrew returning home.

“Right, yeah,” Autumn said. So much has happened that she had forgot there was still people to tell. “So that’s fun, we get to stay here and keep bugging you,” she teased.

"Yeah, a food fight is a bit too high school," Grayson agreed, letting go of her hand to rub his chin. "How about setting off the sprinkler system?"

"Oh, that's great news!" Jenny said. Then she frowned. "I mean, I think it is, so long as you're happy that you're staying."

"it is great news," Andrew assured her, "My x and my daughter aren't moving after all," he explained. He was happy to stay, though there was part of him that wondered what would have happened between him and Autumn had they moved to Canada together.

Sophie's mischievous glint returning to her eyes. "And how do you propose we do that? We'd have to set a fire or something..."

--

"Definitely happy we're staying," Autumn said. The more it set in, the more she realized how much she would miss New York if she left. It was her home, and home was a sacred concept to her, she'd come to realize. Her phone buzzed then, and she reached for it, looking at the number. It was a number she didn't recognize. Her stomach dropped a little. Would it be Todd? "Uh... excuse me a sec. Gotta take this." She headed over to the other room, shutting the door behind her so nobody would hear.

idiots ::))

Andrew watched her go off into the other room to take the call, a small frown creasing his forehead as his mind cooked up all the possibilities of who it could be. What could go wrong in their lives next.

Autumn was in the other room for a few minutes on the phone. Finally, she hung up, and came back out into the main room, looking more baffled than anything else. "That was... my parents," she said. Yet another blast from the past.

"Your...parents?" Andrew responded, dumbfounded, "What did they want?" Andrew asked her.

“They’re downstairs,” Autumn replied. “They... came to visit.”

Andrew stared back at her, mouth hanging open slightly as he processed that information. Her parents, visiting. Andrew shut his mouth and nodded, "Oh...well, should we go down then? I mean...if you want me to come with you that is…"

“Please,” Autumn said quickly. She hadn’t seen her parents in years, not since she had left them. They hadn’t bothered coming to the hospital in Georgia, or even reaching out when her book was published. When she first moved to New York she heard odds and ends of information from Nina, but that was it. So why now?
