That was enough, Maggie wasn’t just going to stand by and let her father treat her like his property. “If he’s going so am I,” she said, moving to step closer to the door as well.

"No, you're not," Nico snapped at her. "You're not ruining your relationship with your family over me." He brushed past her father and into the hall, before turning back. "Make sure you get some rest. The sun will be up soon," he reminded her.

It felt like she would never see him again, and despite how clear he made it that he didn’t care for her, Maggie was infatuated. She held herself tighter and glared at Nico. She couldn’t stay, that much she knew. Even with all this, she couldn’t tell her parents about her vampirism, and she couldn’t keep it a secret under their watchful eyes. “I’ll be a prisoner in my own house,” she lamented.

"Peggy and your brother will be back for you tomorrow night," Nico reminded her. "Guess I'll... see you later," he added with a short wave before heading downstairs and out the door. The sun was just starting to peak up over the horizon. He swore softly. He had to find a place to hide, stat.

<**should we skip to the following night soon?**>

yes, I think so)

Robert lowered his rifle and looked at his daughter, clearly disappointed in her, "I thought we raised you better than this," he said before slamming her door shut and heading back to his own room.

Shirley followed her husband to bed, mortified and crushed. It seemed she would be crying herself to sleep quite a bit still.

Maggie flopped back down on her bed and groaned dramatically, smacking the wall in frustration. No matter how hard she tried it seemed she would always be treated like a child by her family.

[yes let’s do that]

Peggy put her best dress on, a more modern blue dress with white fringe coming off, and let her hair down, smoothing it with a brush and separating the top half, pulling it up. She then looked to Thomas and sighed, "I promise, tonight, we will get to him." she told him, "I am determined."

Maggie spent the day stowed away in her room, alternating between getting lectured by her parents and packing a suitcase. She had never seen her father look at her with such disdain before. Luckily she’d be leaving soon and wouldn’t have to deal with their disappointment much longer. Unfortunately, after the debacle the night before Nico would probably never want to be near her again.

Thomas sat on the bed, sporting a plain white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled up. he was nervous about returning to his childhood home, not knowing what to expect from his father. he sighed and looked at Peggy, "I sure hope so," Thomas said with a small smile. he looked down and rubbed his hand together, "I've been thinking about what you suggested last night," Thomas said suddenly, "about the shop..."

Nico had managed to find a hotel just in time to avoid burning in the light of day again. He spent the day sleeping soundly, waking up when his internal clock informed him that the sun had gone down. He lied in bed for a while, wondering if it was even worth it to go back to the house. Then he found himself wondering why he even wanted to go back. "You're getting soft, Nico," he muttered to himself.

It had gotten sufficiently dark out, so Maggie decided she ought to go downstairs to wait. As angry as she was, she couldn’t imagine leaving when things were so tense between her and her parents. And she still had hope that they wouldn’t tell Thomas at least. She didn’t need another person lecturing her. She quietly made her way downstairs and propped her suitcase by the door and sat on the couch.
