Maggie tried to stay detached, but she could already feel the intrigue and desire to be by his side. Her hand twitched as if to reach out to him. “Your brother? I didn’t think he lived here.” Her jaw clenched, wondering just how much more there was to the story of his family. He had been so vague.

"He doesn't. At least, I don't think he does," Nico replied. He looked to Henry. "I don't know anyone else with that name. It'd be a mighty strange coincidence."

(I meant, him buying a hat from Thomas and peggy's store :P)

"Why would he be buying a hat from us?" Thomas wondered, "Does your brother...know about you?" he inquired.

<**wow I'm dumb**>

"Okay, that had to be a coincidence," Nico said, clearly quite frazzled. "I mean... I supposed he'd come across your shop and was curious about it being run by vampires..."

“How would he possibly know that?” Maggie cut in. It wasn’t as if her brother being a vampire was widespread knowledge.

“It’s easy to tell another vampire. Humans can’t smell the blood as well as we can. It’s sort of a scent we carry with us. He’s probably been near the store before but didn’t want us to notice him, hence why he called it in,” Peggy suggested.

Thomas’ frown deepened, “wait a second,” Thomas said, “nico, is your brother a vampire?” He asked

From the nervous look on Nico's face, Maggie assumed that was what he had been hiding. She crossed her arms, feeling anger bubbling up in her that he hadn't told her. After three years spent traveling together and her opening up to him, it felt like a betrayal. But he wasn't hers, she reminded herself. What right did she have to be upset that he didn't tell her something?

Peggy had figured it out quickly, as he'd expected her to. "Yeah, he's one of us," Nico said softly. "I did say before that you weren't the first person I've sired, didn't I?" he said to Maggie.

“You did,” she conceded. “You also didn’t mention it was your brother.” Something about that didn’t sit right with her. Still, she forced herself not to say more, reminding herself again that she didn’t have a right to be mad.

"To be honest, I was trying to convince myself that he doesn't exist," Nico replied dryly. "We... don't exactly get along," he admitted.

Thomas stared at Nico, his frown softening. He couldn't imagine turning his own brother; it was one thing Thomas hoped he never had to do. "Did....your brother want to be turned?" Thomas asked carefully, "Is he dangerous?"

Nico nodded. "He did. I didn't want to but..." he trailed off. It was a long story, and one he didn't feel like telling at the moment. "So long as he doesn't find out I'm here and doesn't take any more of an interest in you and the shop, it'll be fine."

Maggie pursed her lips. Nico must have had a terrible falling out with his brother to avoid him like that. “You’ll have to make sure you’re not around when he comes to pick up the hat then.”

"Yeah, no kidding," Nico grumbled. He crossed his arms, retreating into himself once again. He'd been much more open, especially with Maggie, but even then there were things he'd rather have kept hidden. "Sorry, didn't mean to ruin your lovely family reunion. Please, continue."
