Peggy smelled it too and started to run towards the house, calling immediately for all of them, "Nico! Maggie! Charles!! We must leave!"

Ainlise nodded and then heard Peggy and started towards the stairs to go down.

"What's going on?" Nico called back to Peggy, meeting them at the front entrance.

[gah stupid time zones. I miss all the fun bc I was sleeping]

Maggie didn’t want to leave the child, so she picked her up reluctantly and followed. “What’s going on?” She realized after she asked however, the smell of many people coming closer. That was a bad sign.

Thomas ran after peggy, the smell of humans assaulting his nose; he wasn’t in a good state to be facing this. Worse, Thomas knew it was his fault in part; if he hadn’t lost control, perhaps they wouldn’t be in such a position

“They’re coming. The townspeople are coming,” Peggy warned, “We must go” she said and reached her arms out to Maggie to take Ruthie.

Ainslie gathered her dress tighter around herself. She looked at Charles, “I’ve brought this mess”

Maggie handed Ruthie over to Peggy quickly, not sure where to look. “What about Charles?” She asked. They couldn’t very well abandon their brother.

“Come on, I think I hear the others,” Charles said, not gracing her statement with a response. He didn’t believe it at all. He grabbed her hand to run out down the stairs to the rest of his family.

Thomas hung back, almost hiding behind Peggy when Charles came down the stairs. Between the townspeople coming their way and his brother, it was a wonder Thomas had maintained control. "Where can we go?" Thomas spoke up; he was getting tired of constantly moving from place to place. He wanted to just settle somewhere with Peggy and Ruthie; somewhere they could call home again.

?All of us gotta go,?  Peggy told them and looked to Nikolai, ?You know they area? How do we get to the next town or farther??

Ainslie looked at the group and then to Charles, ?I could carry you or we can just move slower?

Charles didn?t like the idea of being carried very much at all. ?I can keep up,? he argued.

"There's a path through the forest that will lead us to the main road," Nico said, nodding toward the back of the house. "If we hurry we should be at the next town in an hour or two."

Maggie reached out for Nico's hand, beginning to feel afraid. They had an angry mob coming after them, this was much too much like the books. "Lead the way," she implored him. "Get us out of here."

Peggy started towards the back door, opening it before looking back to make sure Thomas was behind, when it shut very suddenly in front of her, a cold chill going down her spine. She watched the door rattle and then turned back to her family, ?The ghosts??

Ainslie had run in and stopped at the edge of the room, growling low under her breath, the hair on her neck standing up.

?Peggy, there?s no ghosts. We need to go!? Charles said, shaking his head and starting toward the door. He ignored the shaking, figuring it was just an old house and strange things happened. He went to turn the knob, pulling on the door to open it.

Thomas stared at the door as it shut on its own, cursing under his breath and looking back at Nico; there was a mob of angry humans heading their way and his dead family members were blocking their way out? It was both frightening and infuriating. he really wasn't worried about what the humans would do to them; he was more concerned with what he'd do to them if they got close enough. "Is there another way out?" he asked Nico, trying not to sound quite as panicked as he felt.
