Maggie grunted as she struggled suddenly at the sight of the hot poker to get as far away as possible. She was pressed tightly against the wall and shook her head violently. "No, not a coven! I have brothers, they'll be worried. And a mother and father!" She was desperately hoping that her words might pause Marina at least for a moment.

"Your brother is a human, is he not?" She asked, bringing the now red hot poker over. "And you still care for him? For them? Your human "family"," she asked as she brought the burning metal down on Maggie's arm. She dragged the metal along her flesh, burning a familiar shape into it- a cross. "Or did you kill them?"

Maggie screamed as the poker touched her skin, now sobbing uncontrollably. “I love my family, I would never hurt them,” she said through rough breaths. She chose not to mention Thomas, or his state of vampirism or how he got that way, afraid of how Marina would react.

Marina smirked. "Then, if you really love them, and you'd never want to hurt them, why are you fighting against me? Surely you'd want to find a cure? A way to be human again?"

Maggie let her head fall back as she continued to cry. “I won’t hurt them!” She snivelled. “I can’t hurt them!” She was making no sense, of course she couldn’t really hurt Tommy but the woman didn’t know that. “Don’t you understand how much it would hurt them if I were to die?”

"I'm sure they'll understand once I explain things," Marina said softly, moving onto Maggie's other arm. "Once I explain to them what became of you. How were you turned anyway? No, wait, let me guess- you were swept off your feet, seduced by a mysterious stranger," she said, her lip curling in disgust.

As prepared as she thought she would be for the second branding, Maggie was not. Her screams turns into more gurgled noises until she could speak once again. “I suppose that would sum it up,” she said, anger rising in her voice. “You killed him though.”

"Oh, it was that one, was it?" Marina asked, her eyes lighting up. "Well rest easily, because he is gone. He can no longer hurt anyone else. And soon you won't be able to hurt anyone either, my dear."

Maggie made an attempt to kick Marina at that moment, putting any force she had left into it. “You are not going to touch me again!” She tried to sound as powerful as possible, despite feeling like a scared little girl. “Let me go this instant!”

"I can't do that," Marina told her. "Either I continue my experiments, or I kill you right now."

[probably yeah]

Maggie whimpered and slumped once more. These experiments - the torture - was still preferable to the idea of death, so she steeled herself and closed her eyes tightly.

Peggy watched as a car went by and then another and looked at Charles. “Do the thing. Get us a car,” Peggy told him, not sure how to take the taxi stop for her.

Charles blinked at her, then cracked a small smile before he hailed a taxi for them. It pulled up to the curb and he opened the door to let Peggy and Thomas get in. "See? Easy as pie to do."

"If we weren't in such a dire time Charles, I would make more of a deal of you giving me a smile," Peggy told him and then got into the car, "To 24th Street. Corner of Gilbert," she told the driver, remembering the name of the roads from her fly over.
