Peggy kissed him back and nodded, “She’s very sweet. Much like your described before.” She played with his hair, “I thought I would be able to help but I fear your father will transfer the blame to me.”

Maggie scowled, angry with the world. She wanted to kick and scream and get her way, but she couldn’t.

“Do you have a place to stay?” Shirley cut in, hoping to ease the tension in the room. “Because we still have your old rooms free.” She didn’t want to mention how she’d hoped they would eventually come back home. Maggie looked to her father. “I don’t know if we’re welcome here.”

"You may stay as long as you like," Robert said, but it lacked the same gentleness that was usually reserved for his wife and daughter.

"You tried, and I do really appreciate it," Thomas said, "I don't think it would have mattered what we said to him tonight," he said

Maggie knee she would get nowhere with her father. Before she could even take a step, her mother gave Nico a stern look. “You can have Thomas’ room,” she said, clearly expecting Maggie to put up a fight. Maggie simply shrugged though, drained enough from the night to deal with her stupid crush.

Peggy looked at him and nodded, but then leaned over and kissed his jaw, "Maybe a day or two from now, he'll soften up," she suggested. Soon enough they pulled up at the hotel and Peggy got out of the car, waiting for Thomas to go inside with her.

"Thank you for your hospitality," Nico said to Maggie's mother, then he turned to Maggie herself. "Care to show me to my room?"

Maggie nodded and bid her parents goodnight, leading the way towards the bedrooms on the second floor. “Sorry I dragged you along. Maybe once they’re all asleep we can do something actually fun.”

"By 'fun' I certainly hope you mean something wholesome and Christian," Nico said with a derisive snort.

That earned a cheeky smile and she stopped outside Thomas’ old room. “Have I ever done anything but wholesome and Christian things?” She asked.

THomas sighed, "I certainly hope so," he muttered before getting out of the cab and following his wife into the hotel.

"I wouldn't count being turned into a vampire as something very saintly," Nico replied wryly. "But I'll humour you: what did you have in mind?"

Peggy walked up to the counter, getting their key and then starting towards the elevator, holding Thomas' hand, "Hopefully your sister and Nico remember to stay away from sunlight in the house tomorrow. I don't know if your mom will let them sleep during the day."

“Night on the town?” She suggested with a confident smirk. “There’s plenty of places still open. And it’s been months since I’ve been out and about.”

"I'm sure they'll be careful to stay out of the sun," Thomas said, "You know, I'm actually surprised that our vampirism wasn't the reason this night turned into such a disaster," he admitted.

"Sounds like the most fun we'll be able to get out here," Nico murmured, glancing down the hall. "Once your parents are in bed wait a half hour and meet me outside, got it?"
