How do you see the era of Prettytime? Was it effective in it's own way...what were the downfalls?

I think it's a combination of dictatorship and communism:
- everyone (well all ordinary people) were made equal by the pretty operation(communism)
-specials were the dictators

I liked prettytime, but the whole freedom-missing thing let it down. Still, you can't have a decent amount of freedom without arguements.... and war.....

BUt it was effective. It suppressed people so that all of the problems that society had faced before would come to an end. it's similiar to how countries where run thousands of years ago by the lack of education...same idea. Only un like in medival ages people never relised that there freedoms where being taken away. So as a goverment I find PrettyTime very effective.  genius actually but the idea has been around for manyyy years so I guess they can't take credit

and I do think that pretty time was more of a communist idea giving everyone there basic needs while extras was more of a socialist idea with everyone working (merits and fame) for goods.

I think it is a combination, as Hannah said, people were made equal  because of the life phases but the approach to the rusties and diego is extremely socialist

I changed my mind, i think the society is anarchistic because there are no "rules", the controlling is done inside the brain. Yes the uglies had regulations, but they were literally meant to be broken
