I understand. Should Alek be Emperor of Austria-Hungary, or just an important person?

Yup, he lives there with Deryn, but still travels to Austria-Hungary every now and again. It didn't split up after WWI ended, just like the ottoman empire. He is technically Emperor but leaves most of his duties to Volger

That would be cool, but if it were a forum effort, i think it would be easiest in roleplay form :D However, your story sounds pretty cool, you should continue it.

MWAH, I HAZ LOVE THIS QUESTION ^^ yes in a way there is. instead of a holocaust, Adolf Hitler is anti-Darwinist, instead of anti-semitist. Nazi Germany is heavily counter Darwin, and Hitler is a Mad Scientist type, whose managed to create robotic's and walkers and such out of the darwinists he captures. like bio-cybernetic people that serve him. he makes camps that do this, and they are this histories version of concentration camps.  :s creepy huh? so, finale desision... put the story on RPG, or keep it here? because i have nine more pieces, as long as that first one...

Well it depends on a few factors for what WWII is going to be like in the Leviathan universe (it's definitely going to happen, the mere existence of WWI guarantees this).

1) How Westerfeld ends WWI: in our world, Germany was basically slowed down on their march to Paris in 1918 by the Allies and with some stalling from their top generals, the Germans ran out of steam and were pushed back. For all we know in the Leviathan universe, WWI ends early (one scenario: Alek becomes emperor of Austria-Hungary and pulls his country out of the war (Austria-Hungary did try to do this in the real world) and Germany is left isolated and is dealt a very crushing defeat).

2) What happens to Germany and Russia after the war. In our world: the Germans overthrew the monarchy and established a left-leaning government that couldn't get anything done except try to pay of the debts imposed on Germany at Versailles. Germany, logically, was pissed, so the government decided that they would pay off the entire debt in one go... so they started printing large amounts of money with nothing backing the cash... which is bad because it causes hyperinflation. In other words, the Mark was worth nothing. This meant that while most of the world went through ten years of Depression, Germany had to deal with almost twenty years. This set the climate for Hitler's rise. But Hitler isn't guaranteed power. I'll explain this later.
Russia, well something's got to give. The Russian people never wanted to get into the war and they wanted a more democratic and open government. Nicholas II was completely blind to all this. WWI was really hard on the Russian people and eventually they couldn't take any more and revolted against the Romanovs. I personally believe that a revolution in Russia will occur; it doesn't have happen in 1917, but the Romanovs have to piss off the people enough for them to say, "Enough's enough! If something doesn't change quickly, then we're going to make that change happen." After the initial revolution, it just depends on who gains power in Russia; most likely the Communists under Lenin due to their popularity and strong arm tactics when it came to dealing with their rivals.

3) Who gains power in Germany after the war: as I said earlier, there was a democratic government in Germany after the monarchy was overthrown. Now, following the Bolsheviks took over Russia, Leon Trotsky said that the goal of socialism in Russia would not be realized without the success of the world revolution (the concept of overthrowing capitalism in all countries through the conscious revolutionary actions of an organized working class). After the war, Germany and Hungary have attempts at establishing Communism, they were not successful. In an alternate universe, Germany could go Communist and either become a close ally to the Soviet Union or become a puppet state for them. Further successful Communist revolutions in Central Europe, Spain and China would give the Soviet Union more allies. This means that when WWII happens, we could be fighting the Soviets instead of the Fascists.

4) Stalin: though I prefer Trotsky to Stalin as the leader of the Soviet Union, their's no way around the fact that Stalin will become the Premier of the USSR. It just comes down to the fact that Stalin was much more ruthless and had more cronies than Trotsky. Stalin will gain power in the Russia of the Leviathan universe and our heroes and maybe their kids are either going to be fighting against him or have Stalin as an ally for the duration of WWII then as an enemy during the Cold War.

You know what. Just looking at all of my post I just realized something. WWII in the Leviathan universe is more likely going to be a US/UK + Commonwealth/France vs. USSR/Germany/China fight instead of US/UK + Commonwealth/USSR/France vs Nazi Germany/Italy/Japan! And both look like worse wars in the Leviathan universe than in our universe.

this...is...ridonculusly long and informative ^^ But when you look at your post, and you look at Westerfelds' book... you're very politically centered, and very factual about the whole thing. Westerfeld's more personally centered, focusing of the people, not the war itself. It's hard to answer your questions, owing to the fact that, as i am in grade ten >.< i have yet to learn all the details. But i was going to focus the book like Westerfeld. and no one answered whether or not i should continue my writing on an rpg, or just keep writing here...
