The longer she puts off telling him, the less time they have to talk it out before going their (hopefully not) seperate ways for life.  The longer she doesnt tell him, the madder he is going to be.

I'd hate it if she told him and then he started seeing her as a "useless girl".  Hopefully when he does find out, he can look past the shock and still like her for her personality!  It makes me nervous just thinking about it!

Alek does seem a little sexist. or a lot.  If he gets all hoity-toity around Deryn when he finds out, I will cry.  Such a good set up for some commidy? And he gives a lecture from the time period on how women should be treated? That would be pathetic.

I will also cry if that happens.

Exactly, Scott needs to allow plenty of time for Alek to love Deryn back.

And as far as Alek being sexist I was really disappointed with his comments. In my mind I was thinking Alek isn't like that. He's perfect. But then I found out that Alek was like every other dude back then.

I mean, here's the thing.
If she tells him, there's a very low chance of it working out.
If she DOESN"T tell him, there's a ZERO chance of it working out.

Agreed.  Though, I think that Scott will make it work out, and I know I am revoicing someonelses comment from another thread, because it is comedy.  How can a book be all that funny if the two main characters hate each other?  There are only about 100 pages worth of situations, and some of them don't make sence, like girl-girl conflicts, or boy-boy conflicts.
