The Hydra, a Privateer in the employ of the Royal Air Service. A former Ayr-Pyrat before the Great War, the Hydra was created from several derelict ships but the base of it comes from a Royal Navy pre-Dreadnaught, the HMS Dominion. The rich plundering of the Far East gave the scavengers and thieves the opportunity to create their own Airship, so thus with plundering of a German Hull, Austro-Hungarian Engines and Darwinist Cannon, the Hydra was born.
The Hull of the Hydra’s Armor is 160-250mm thick, however as much of the ship is at angles, this is easily doubled if a direct shot impacts, however the engines and the turrets are 300mm thick. This is because during an aero-battle these are the first to be targeted. Even the weight of this armor, the Hydra can travel at almost 23kt, or 26.5mph. This is considerable speed considering the speeds for common warships of the size, or larger.
The Hydra would be classed as a light cruiser if it was a true Air Service Warship. Armed with nine 12-inch and twelve 10-inch with an abundance of machinegun blisters, the Hydra is able to fight off any light aggressor and has the speed and manoeuvrability to outrun the stronger enemies.
She has a crew of 530, not include the 80-strong ground force that the Hydra employs, thanks to its upgraded lower hulls. She has the capability to ground-drop troops using special Darwinist creations built by His Majesty’s boffins as well as scout gyrocopters.
