Little Things You Noticed
kay101:
This thread is for talking about the little things, not the big, epic, battle and/or kissing scenes. Anything a person may have missed when speed-reading through Goliath. So basically whatever little moments, phrases, or illustration details you found cute/funny/interesting/unusual etc. I'll start:
Back in Behemoth, when Alek and Deryn are balcony-hopping at the hotel to get the scroll, Alek says to Deryn "Have you lost your air-sense yet?" and Deryn replies "Hardly."
Now, in Goliath, in the second-to-last chapter when they are climbing the ratlines together, an injured Deryn says "Barking spiders, I've gotten soft!" and then it is ALEK who says "Hardly." I wonder if Scott did that on purpose.

i liked the vague, unnoticeable little paragraph on the civil war, how the south was darwinist and the north was clanker.
it got me thinking.

I haven't finished the book yet...but the first thing that caught my eye was in chapter one. My favorite part so far was when Deryn told Newkirk and Alek that they better eat their potatoes to warm them up and later on, Mr. Westerfeld wrote that Deryn went back to finish her "precious potatoes." It made my week. XD

I really liked the drawing of them both dripping wet after the Heruclean Inundation. I don't know why, but I found it cute.
