I actually thought the way grief was addressed was one of the best parts of the book. Really raw and real. There are happy moments tho :P

Im starting a book called Born In Africa by Martin Meredith that my friend got me for Christmas because she's an angel that works at a bookshop and the cover is dope cuz the photo on it is identical to a photo I took at Olduvai/Oldupai Gorge when I was there. Like the photographer had to have been in the exact same place as me.

Okay i paused that cuz it felt like a textbook and I started reading Bridge of Clay by Markus Zusak cuz it was a dollar on my kindle app and if it's anything like The Book Thief it'll be incredible

Darius the great is not okay is about an Iranian American Teenager who has depression and is is visiting his mother's family in Iran because his grandfather has terminal cancer.
It's actually a lot less sad than it sounds. basically about the main character learning more about his culture, accepting it and realizing that his disability is just something that makes him unique. And actually talks about depression in a relatively healthy way, there's no discussion of things like suicide or self-harm and it's just mostly about him trying to explain why he uses medication to his extended family and stuff like that and making friends in Iran.

This translation is actually really interesting, I think I just have a hard time bc try as I might I really hate epics. I much prefer Greek tragedy or poetry.

Thank you for the suggestions guys!!! I will have to give those books a try
