I'd say they fit in the category of Divergent/ Mild Hunger Games/ Much less messed up Maze Runner  ;D ... Messed up society, brainwashed civilians, star-crossed friendships and figuring out ways to survive, rebel and overcome everything life throws at the poor characters.

Clare if you want something that feels like YA, but with 20-somethings I'd suggest both the show and comic Umbrella Academy, Strong Female Protagonist, and the Magicians although I did not like the latter.
