Currently reading: The Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale. It's OK, but the world is kind of unrealistic. I mean, it sounds like it's based on Ancient China, but they have winters that rival Canada's; and they ride YAKS. Come on. Apparently there's "muckers" that sing songs that heal people, but there's no magic involved.... and one of the characters (very annoyingly) bursts into tears every second paragraph.
On the plus side, it's got a great adventurous feel, and the beginning drew me in. It's a good book, I want to finish it, but the unrealistic-ness of its setting put me off.
Going to read next: possibly A War of Gifts by Orson Scott Card.
