Titles of Books
« on: April 07, 2012, 06:55:22 AM »

I've recently discovered some really cool theories about why the Leviathan series is called the Leviathan series. You see, in the Jewish/Christian Faith there were creatures mentioned in the Bible. These creatures were dinosaurs, and there were mainly two species named. The Leviathan, and the Behemoth. Both can be found in New Testament. And in the Old Testament, there were a pack of Giants. The Leader of these Giants was called Goliath. Does anyone else believe this is were the names of the books came from? Are my theories corect? Just wondering!

Mmmmmm Norwegian deer liver.

I have not noticed ...  :-[

Wow.

Is Mr Westerfeld a Christian? Or maybe it's pure coincidence since these are names for massive beings.

It seems a little weird that it might be coincidence.  When I first read the books i noticed where Goliath was from (partly because thats how i get people to pronounce my last name right...) and then a couple weeks ago i figured out the Leviathan one.

Originally Leviathan and Behemoth were coincidental, then Scott or a fan noticed the connection, and realise to keep in pattern he would have to call the third book Ziz.
Mr Westerfeld didn't really like Ziz and a fan suggested Goliath. It had three syllables and the 'th' sound, so he chose to use it.
I read that somewhere, can't remember where.

Leviathan, Behemoth, and Goliath are all from Greek mythology I think.
