Esmari kept picking up until she noticed a shadow on the floor. She looked at the door and saw the boy from the lobby in the door. And he was smiling at her. She gave him the generosity of smiling back, but didn't want to speak. Her stupid voice. It was so obvious she was deaf when she talked.

he nodded. so she was deaf. he wished he knew some sign language. He stayed there in silence for a bit-trying to figure out how to communicate with her.
