Okay I guess I'm the first one to make a topic on this.
So in January there was a major news story about this native reserve in North Ontario called Attawapiskat. Basically the poverty was really low and there was a declared a state of emergency. There was a huge ordeal between the chief and the govournment and ultimately harper said he sent some money. The news stopped covering it.
In february, Quebec's govournment issued a law that tuition rates would be increassed by 1/3 within the next 5 years. This may seem like a lot for an american but it actually isn't considering Canada has extremely low tuition rates and Quebec's were the lowest in the country.Personally I do think they souldn't be raised.Of course instead of asking why the students banded together and started the protest at Quebec City to tell the gov to reconsider. The govournment said no. Ever since then the protesters have been getting more and more violent, many resulting in riots.the news is talking about it every day. The protesters are rich kids who can easilly afford the rates. The way they are protesting you would think it was Libya not Canada. The stutentds have no perception of how lucky they are.
With all of this, it seems like everyone has forgotten about places like Attawapiskat where people are DYING. Meanwhile there are protests here over several hundred dollars. It really angers me how selfish it is, why weren't they protesting Harper's lack of compassion!
I have no faith in humanity.
