Looking for Leviathan Reference Shots. Help me out?
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:07:55 PM »

Hey guys, I was wondering if y'all could help me out. I'm working on a painting of the Leviathan, and I need some reference photos. I don't have access to my hard cover copies of the books, only Leviathan and Behemoth kindle editions. I've been looking for illustrations that show off the Leviathan's side, especially the gondola and stern (tail?), but with little success. Does anyone have the page numbers/kindle location numbers of good examples? Or better yet, links?

Also, the Leviathan is supposed to be a sperm whale, right?

Thank you! That's very helpful. I had gotten the motivator engines all wrong. Now I just need to figure out what the tail looks like. Also, it's neat how as the series progressed, Keith drew the Leviathan with more and more battle damage.

It don't have a tail I'm pretty sure.  Westerfeld said in a meet up.

Scenes like the scene where Alek and Deryn first kiss, with a lot of mentions of specific places on the Leviathan, always confused me because I have no idea where the Stormwalker engines are! I guess these pictures will be pretty useful for me too, then...

The Leviathan doesn't have a tail. It's stern is more like the back of a box kite, square and with control surfaces.

Yep,  in goliath, when the japanese released the kappa.  There's a good picture of the tail.  And I never noticed any of the battle damage progression before, cool!
