Hey, I got a little homecoming prezzie from you guys:

Being at number 2 is totally awesome! (But, I have to say, seeing who’s at number 1 kind of makes me wonder if all the sales were counted, or whether a certain Supreme Court stepped in. I’m just saying . . . )

And wait, look at the paperback list, where Uglies bursts forth after a long absence. Can you feel the power of the series! And the dump bins! And the word of mouthiness!

    so, basically, i’ve spread the uglies series to eight of my friends in the school. 4 of them have bought the books. i have a huge line for extras, lol, now that i finished.

  7. noo way totally fawesome scott-la. i love how uglies always gets the extra boost everytime a new book in the series comes out. its always so happy-making knowing all those people are getting hooked on these books too.

  11. Also I just noticed that Uglies and Extras is rated 12 & up but Specials is 14 & up. I guess it’s beacuse Specials is a little more “graphic”

  15. That is amazing. Go Extras, Uglies, and Specials! I am kind of sad that they were outsold by High School Musical 2 in paperbacks, ha ha. But hey, you outsold Eldest! I think thats a pretty amazing feat!

  22. That’s wicked, except for the High School Musical 2 part. It’s the most bogus thing I’ve seen in a long time. Along with Ana’s Story. I mean, come on, how can that bad of a movie (HSM 2) be that good of a book? It’s just so disapointing what people are reading these days. HSM barely seems young adult, more for kids because it’s all wish fullfilment and clichés.

    and whether or not the Supreme Court stepped in, i have a feeling that a number of copies of jenna bush’s book were bought because of who she is, not how well she writes. so GO, SCOTT, for making it to number two on writing ability, not celebrity!

  34. Scott, I love, I really do, but The Book Theif, in my opinion, was better than Uglies. Speacials and Extras were my favorite books in the Uglies series (It’s a bit of a stretch, seeing as all four are in my top 10 books of all time), and yet I still think that The Book Theif should be where it is.

    I JUST finished Extras. Wow, I am really mad at teachers right now. They enjoy punishing us with homework when we would like to read. How rude.

    but…WHAT IS UP WITH THAT HSM 2 BOOK BEIN ON THAT LIST?!?!?! i mean seriously. that movie was NOT very good at all. the only thing that made it not totally horrifying to watch was the songs. and books cant have songs in them! WHY WOULD ANYBODY BUY IT!?! and it says 12 AND UP! nobody 12 AND UP would want to read a BRAIN-MISSING book like that! UUUHHHGGG!

  41. Is the Uglies trilogy movie gonna have open auditions for the part of Tally? Like auditions for people without agents? Thanks soooo much you guys ar awesome! =) Also, links would be great.. For people without agents. Thanks and I already emailed Scott Westerfeld but I know he can reply better on his blog.. Totally icey =)of the book. Also, do you know websites that say if there are going to be auditions open to the public? Is there an age thing like only 14 years old or whatever? I’m not 14 but still lol.   42. Extras was in the november issue of cosmogirl as one of their favorites and must haves! I was really excited when I saw this.

    and everytime I read another one of your books, I always tell my friends, “you should really read his booksss. pleeeasee.” I always want someone to talk to about them. =)

  47. YAY!!! number TWO!!! whoooo!
    i started to read the Book Theif once… i couldn’t get very far at all. it was lacking something… i’m not sure what, though… but i felt like i was suffocating when i read it. i know that sounds stupid, but it’s true. maybe lack of detail?
    a bunch of people @ my school r reading Uglies now!!! yay! the school library just got the first three ones. and the public library just got all of scott-sensei’s (it should probaly be westerfeld-sensei, but i like the way scott-sensei sounds ;)) YA books! yay!
