I recently ran across my all-time favorite piece of Midnighters fan art. Here are Bixby’s fab five as envisioned by Shira-chan:

What makes this so great is that all the characters have been transformed into manga-tastic superheroes. Dess is a mathy warrior goddess. Melissa and Rex are brooding goth magicians. Jonathan hovers a bit out of the group, a sly smirk on his face. And Jessica really looks very 11:59, from a different world than the rest of them. And yet she’s still totally cool—her flashlight like a rock star’s microphone in her hand.

Even the details are delicious:

Rex’s book is full of black post-its. (Where do you get those? I need them.)

Acariciandote sparkles on Jess’s wrist.

Jonathan’s t-shirt has a corporate-logo version of the acrobat sign on it.

    My stomach burns cause I just did 50 sit-ups. Yep yep. I’m trying to get all mucely or however u spell it.

    digital books = bad. so not the same.

    digital newspapers = fawesome. i read about some in China that don’t have LCD screens, so they have the same brightness as paper and they’re flexible, so that it feels good in your hand. And the screens are small and convenient. The only reason our country sticks with paper paper is tradition. books are different; they’re immortal. you just don’t throw them away. but newspaper? I mean, come on, the digital idea would save literally billions of trees.

  15. Audrey-Sensei, “save literally billions of trees”? From where? You do know that they grow their own trees for paper, and then replant them when they cut those down, right? They really aren’t getting rid of anything special. Besides, the old trees aren’t helpful anyway, since they need less oxygen.

    Also, flexible epaper style readers are always prefered to
    normal in my mind. I mean, have a charging pad (if you haven’t heard, they will soon be able to wirelessly charge any of your gadgets on a pad just by touching it, using alternating currents and such.) with wifi, leave the paper there overnight, and have the paper downloaded at midnight or whenever they release the issue, and you can read it whenever. Add RSS feed functuality and some other goodies, and you have an amazing gadget.

    (I’m not bothering to proofread any of that, since I’m going to be the only one who can stand to read it all anyway :P)

  21. OHMYGOD!!! black post-its=39 KINDS OF FAWESOME!!! i just ordered four packs! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! (i wood have ordered more, but im almost broke. i had to beg for a credit card number!!!) hehe.

    and Audrey-la. they shood TOTALLY stop having paper newspapers! there so wasteful and killing! violence is never the answer! hehe.

  22. Does NO ONE listen to me?!? making paper isn’t violent. you know how they make corn, right? imagine that, but with trees. THAT is how they get the paper for newspapers and such. Since it is younger, its softer. Hardwood breaks the machines, which is what the old growth forests are.

    On to the next topic: You can’t say violence isn’t the answer Lizzy-wa when you’re talking about nature, since nature is violent. Trees fight daily for survivial against their own offspring. Sun, ground space, water, and other things are limited. Especially in the rain forests. You want to know what makes them so contained? The trees fight each other, and don’t waste anything. As soon as one tree goes down, another takes what it was using. And you never know when it rains in a rain forest, except for the slight trickle that the trees up top can’t gather. Please do your research next time before you go into environmentalist territory, since I really want to go vent somewhere right now after this.

  23. whats the big deal with black post-its? Id rather have pink, orange, lime green, ect. I like bright colors!

    Ok, the reason i have not been on a lot is because i have had SO much hw. At least 10 things to do a day and they aren’t easy. + finals are coming up. + im addicted to yahoo answers. So yes, i have some serious (and some not so serious) things going on right now.

  24. same here Bran-la! it’s been pretty crazy. i only have 5 1/2 more days. so it’s cram time. all my teachers are throwing posters and huge review packets and portfolios at us and where like ahhh!! tonight i have to write 1 story, write captions for like 15 pictures. (captions have 2 sentences each. with tons of detail. how do you write a detailed caption about a person sleeping??!) and i have to make 2 posters. and write a few paragraphs in spanish describing my poster. and tonight i babysat, had my final dance practice before our rectial, and had my final band concert. wayyyy.. too… much… stuff!! (and that was only tonights stuff!)

  31. Netta-la i was talking about the homework that i am drownding in. (yes, maybe i’m a little dramatic. too bad.)

    wow. i think i’m losing it guys. i coulda swore i posted another comment on here. ranting about how it was like 1:04 a.m. and i wasn’t done with my homework still. now it’s 2:22 a.m. and guess what still not done. *cries* i have a free homework pass (for kicking butt in this one game) but i don’t know if she’ll let me use it since this is a project. i still have to write 2 paragraphs for spanish, color my poster, and cut and tape my pictures.

  40. Oh, yeah I go to Church every Sunday and Church groups on Tuesdays and Thursdays upon my own choice and I do believe in God of course. I go to an Evangelical Christian Church, how bout you?

    we don’t go to church every Sunday
    mainly on holidays
    but it’s really hard with as many people as we have in my family
    you can’t get everyone up early enough
    I’ve slept until one in the afternoon on a Sunday before

    homework sucks. scool sucks. i have *counts* six projects going on rite now. five of wich are from my language/ss teacher. (she teaches both). i dont no why, but she came up with this freeky idea that its good to have more than one project going on at once so that if we finish one early, we can still have sompthin to do. well guess what?!?!?! NO BODY HAS THE TIME TO FINISH EARLY WHEN THEY ARE DUE IN TWO WEEKS!!!!!

  44. Oh, agreed! HaHa, sheesh! I just turned in a 15 page report on the Civil War, that was really not very fun to write. Research Reports suck the fun out of writing those freaking FUN SUCKERS! And I have to do a power point presentation on it and write a persuasive essay and a science project and a mountain of math homework and a spanish interwiew project. And this is the end of the year, which means that’s a light load. I wouldn’t be surprised if my backpack weighed more than me…

Amazingly, I’m still alive, though my end-of-the-year-we-can’t-torture-you-until-next-year-so-we-better-give-you-half-a-billion-projects-oh-and-don’t-you-dare-forget-about-the-6000-Spanish-finals-while-cramming-for-the-math-exam-that-determines-wether-or-not-you-can-graduate-from-highschool-in-5-years-AND-JOIN-THE-FREAKING-MARCHING-BAND-WHILE-YOUR-AT-IT-BECAUSE-ALL-OF-US-HIGHSCHOOLERS-HATE-YOU days are still continuing, I weighed my backpack once, on a normal day with normal amounts of homework…40 POUNDS..

  48. that’s a lot for a backpack i weighed mine and it only weighed about 25 pounds well i guess that is still alot isnt it well i am not as swamped with home work as you guys are in fact today i didn’t get any home work YAH well i dont have to take finals either so this next week and a half i don’t got much to do btw what grade are you in tally&zane just wondering talk to you alls laters
