Teen Author Festival

It begins.

This afternoon Justine and I join Holly Black, Cassandra Clare, Alaya Johnson, David Levithan, and Diana Peterfreund at the Juvenilia Smackdown. We’ll be reading from our childhood and teenage writings. (OMG I spent the day looking at them and they are worse than I thought.) The immoderate Libba Bray will be moderating.

Monday, 3/16, 4-6pm, Tompkins Square Park branch of the NYPL, 331 E. 10th Street

We’re also participating in a tribute to Joe Monti on Wedneday, where I’ll be reading from Leviathan for the first time in public. And revealing art!

Wednesday, 3/18, 6pm, Mulberry Street Branch of the NYPL, 10 Jersey Street (Between Lafayette & Mulberry Streets)

And we’ll be at the giant Books of Wonder mass signing on Sunday.

But there’s much more stuff than that.

Here’s the mighty schedule.

Update: For all you Italiano-phones, here’s an interview with me on the Italian Marie Claire website, about Midnighters.

  1. Help! Whenever I go on this site, my computer detects a virus called “Trojan-Downloader.JS.LuckySploit.e”, then goes haywire. I’m a regular reader of the blog but lately I haven’t been able to read it at all.

  2. I think the virus may have infected the server where this blog is. Hopefully Scott-la will know what to do. Meantime, everyone looking at this page should probably scan their computer.

Anyway, when it’s fixed, looking forward to reading the post on Diego. I missed it b/c my computer freezes on this site now. 🙁

  3. awww…. Thats sad z-la. My computer detects it to, but doesnt go nuts. Hopefully scott-la can do something about it.

As for the post, im ready to fly out to new york for this! I was thinking about flying to cali for a signing but this is way better!!! Why do i live so far away from everything thats fawesome *tears*!!!

  4. hmmm… My computer doesn’t detect anything. I wish I could go to the signing. =[ That would be so majorly fool! Hey, does anyone else have off of school today?

  5. Scott, I’ll be there Wednesday along with 30 HS students! SHHH don’t tell, but they are all coming to see YOU! We’re all so excited! 🙂 See you soon!

  6. Wow..I never thought that the stereotypical ‘deluded teen authors’ was Actually True. I mean, my friends will readily testify to the brilliance of WHATEVER I write, even if it’s rubbish…on purpose. But I didn’t actually think this was true of teens world over.
Lala-wa – think how hard it is for us Brits…I’ll never see one of Scott-La’s signings unless he goes to the Middle of Nowhere regularly.

  7. Holly-wa: if i dont actually go to where hes at, i’ll never meet him! But i must admit, i dont think i’d ever meet him if i was where you were. I’m just lucky someones trying to kiss up to me and a flight to new york would do :]

  8. Stupid computer published it before I was done. Anyway…

I really wish I could be there. I never get to go to book signing, even when they’re really close (though sometimes I forget about them and don’t remember until it’s too late to go). 🙁

Click my name! I have a new shop, but this one is on Zazzle. Please check it out! 😀

  9. i really wish i could go to one of these:( or anywhere where i would see you Scott it’s my dream.

  10. AH I so wish I could go but um yea South Carolina is not the best place to be flying from and I’m like broke as in barely paying bills and barely able to buy food but as I am a strong beliver in Everything happens for a reason.

  11. I would go if I liked near it. But sadly I don’t *cough* come to DC *cough*

My computer doesn’t see any virus, but it does open adobe/acrobat reader (I forgot what it’s called) each time I come here….

  12. bethany-la: you’re in dc?? i would drive if i were that close!!! jeeze, im practically on the other side of the united states… ugh!! and scott-la, i must agree with laura-wa, they can’t be THAT bad can they?? come one. just because everyone’s not such a fawesome, icy-amazing writer like you, doesn’t mean they’re THAT bad ;p

RIGHT FREAKIN NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. I’m really sorry, guys. But Turner Syndrome causes us girls to get mad at this type of stuff… Lol…. I just had to get it out, you know? But I mean every thing I said. I’m really getting mad. People in NYC get enough attention, and us folks everywhere else are completley ignored!!! Why??? Why does this have to happen???? Why does this stupid economy ressesion have to happen???? My family is on the brink!!!!!!! Stupid effing ressesion… if this becomes a second Great Deppression, I’m going to be effing PO ed. Sorry again, folks. Just gotta vent.

  15. i know i know alex-wa. If it werent for someone else paying i couldnt even DREAM of going. Jeeze scott-la! If you went cali i would go there in a heart beat. But no, im going for someone else… Lol no more complaining. I know youd never come through where im at. Its too much of a no where…

  16. i get a warning, but i ignore cause it has had no effect so far! yay. god i wish i was a ny living person not halfway around the world! 🙁

  17. ARE YOU KIDDING ME EDEN! grrrr… so jealous-making… ugh!!! this is so frustrating! i think im going to give this blog a break a bit. toodles everyone!

  18. “is that a bad thing?”
Yeah, my old-old computer broke from a Trojan, but it was like 5yrs old and on the way out anyway. If your computer’s detecting it, it’s probably blocking it as well. Mine didn’t detect anything this time, so it seems to be fixed!

YAY!!! 😀 😀 😀 Now I can read the post about Diego!

  19. Lala-wa: Well, I live near, I don’t think he would come to the little town I do live in, so I just constantly say DC. Close enough. ANd if he comes during a school day, I am sooooo sneaking a ride with my dad to DC to see him. Also, I would drive there, really, but one, my mom doesn’t want me or her to drive, and two she would only let me go if it was with a group like school, girl scouts, or church. Blah!

Z-la: Yeh, Adobe/Acrobat Reader Didn’t come up this time, so I think it’s fixed….. hey, do you think scott-la reads all of these? Also, I have malware on here that I’ve had since december. But it’s not doing anything, and I don’t feel like going through all the steps to get rid of it. ANd I tried once before, but one of the scanners wouldn’t work. But then again, I’m using Firefox, and it doesn’t seem as affected by it (Yoog is what it’s called) as IE is. *shrug*

  20. Ok here is a ligament question for you Mr Scott
are you planning on coming to the West Side
at all? I noticed in your plans your staying mostly
in the New York area and what not. It would be
nice to see you on the West side. Maybe the
    Seattle area?

  21. ahhh! i wanted to go so bad when i was reading Libba Bray’s blog.
it makes me mad. not being able to go and see you, Libba, and Holly. God i wanted to go so bad. /:

oh, hey, i just got Bogus to Bubbly at the library yesterday. Im so buying it. Its really awesome 🙂

  22. AHHHHH…itried to read the interview not at first relalizing that it was in another language….ooopppss. Oh well. Got to get back to my homework -BLAH-

but then ill be old and wont like kid books(not)(i will always like them!(ALWAYS!)

yes Mr.Scott, how about middle calif. area?

  24. I live in syracuse…. wanna live in NYC!
wanna at least go to college there, or maybe go to college somewhere else, like Cali, if I am gonna live in NYC…. so I go somewhere else first

actually… I’d love to live in like Ireland or somewhere…

  25. I hope whoever goes has fun! I haven’t read any of the other comments…or these…or the ones from the newish post…(holy crap) but I hope everyone had a really great day! (Ashley-wa, Becky-la[sorry if I spelled your name wrong]: It was soooo warm!!)

  26. Suh-weet! I’ll be going Wednesday (tomorrow). I had initially hoped I’d be able to make Monday’s readings but missed it due to crappy planning and the general disarray of the public transportation system. But might I suggest you post some of your old writings here…. with one of those handy dandy links? Those who couldn’t make the festival will attack that link like no tomorrow. Think about it. 🙂

    See ya Wednesday!

  27. My computer flips out too.
But i has only frozen once.

    Srry I’ve been so…gone lately.

    I’ll try and keep up!!

  28. If I had a hoverboard…I’d get totally distracted and go freak out my cousin in Colorado and then go sightseeing across the country and forget to go until it was too late…

  29. Trojan’s back today. 🙁 Fortunately, I managed to read the Diego-related post during the Trojan-free time. My computer is doing a good job being virus-blocking, though.

Haley~Hyperness — I wish I had a hoverboard too. I’ve been practising on skateboards for when they’re invented. If no-one starts work inventing one soon, I’ll do it myself. Hey, actually, that’s not such a bad idea. I have two of those strongish toy magnet things. All I need is about a billion more!
