Okay, I’m twelve days late, but I didn’t want to miss commemorating the 60th anniversary of the first publication of Uglies!

Here’s the novel in all its original glory, back in 1959.

  9. Okay, now I’m PISSED. I didn’t think about it too much before Casie. I was just like ARgh, that totally sucks! But now that it’s dealing with The Mortal Instruments, A Great and Terrible Beauty, and HARRY POTTER. WTF?!?!?!?!?! Those are some of my favorite books EVER. That’s so so so so soooooo stupid. Other people should be able to find awesome books like those and all the others being banned and read them at their own will. Amazon shouldn’t be able to censor people. That’s their job to decide what is appropriate and what isn’t or whether or not they’d like to read it. JEEZ. And that’s awful about your friend’s parents. I mean, I’d understand if someone’s parents were a little freaked out cuz they didn’t know or whatever, but that’s just ridiculous.

    You see out of all these crazed Twi-hards there are a good number of those who cannont stand it and they, unlike the fans, know that everyone has a right to free speech, and wouldn’t care what you say unless your yelling and swearing at them in a frantic way to defend your precious little book. If what your saying is true and not an over exsaggeration(wow how do you spell that lol I suck) like it probably is then it is probably the boy side of the hate……(there are a lot more boys then girls that hate it and they are just not as tempered as girls)

    well anyways Im reading Narnia right now 🙂 The Horse and his boy. I read it when I was young but didnt understand it but now that Im a lot older it makes a lot more sense to me

  22. Kristina-la, the kingdom, from what I understood was just us being crazy about Scott-la’s books and respecting other people’s opinions. But I’m a bit confused now…It’s not supposed to be pro or anti twilight(Although I agree with you completely on that) or any other books. Just pro Scott.

    and ok so the kingdome. while ppl were fuing about twilight and harry poter we tryed to band them both. then it was brought up that u cant band the 2 most popular series of books. so in a weird mideval times way i said we could now say both once again but u could not diss either series. i had a idea for a kingdom along with tally&zane and hailey. Scott-la is the king and many ppl said wat they wantted to be in this kingdom. u can be anthing u can think of. we dont talk much about it because the 3 of us are moving the westertopia kingdom to a new site.sooooooo

    Harry Potter should not be compared to TW******
    They are not the 2 most popular books. Harry Potter is one of the most popular books(with 400 million books sold) Twilight is a faze that will die away in the next few years.
    Harry Potter is a classic Twilight is trash

  31. Please don’t call Twilight trash. While, from a technical, analytical standpoint, I completely agree with you, the term “trash” is pretty darned opinionated and can be insulting. (I was a little bit peeved, because it is an easy connection from calling a book “trash” to calling someone’s opinion of a book “trash,” like saying that their views are wrong/don’t matter because the book sucks anyway.)

    “Poorly written”? Sure. “Grammatically lacking”? Sure. “Plotless”? Sure. “Character developmentally challenged”? Sure. Just not “trashy,” please.

    Now, for my two cents, I think its extremely ridiculous to remove the sales ranking on ‘adult books’. Whats the point to it? Save the kiddies from learning about Lesbians and Homosexuals, but it’s alright if they click on Playboy? Smooth one, Amazon.   41. wow… interesting cover… no wonder why i never heard of your book (no offense scott-la). i only started your books because the cover for EXTRAS looks like the one for the HOST. plus the girls asian and i HEART asians!! (dont ask why, cuz i dont know). but im glad i picked them up this year because i would have gone NUTS if i had to wait for the next books… but i heart your novels even if your first cover was SO not the biz.

I hate to sound like a nag, but you’re gonna scare people away from the kingdom by tweaking out then being all nice, Hey wanna join the kingdom??? I know it pisses you off, but if you deal with it calmly and intelligently(not saying you’re stupid) then it’s much more rewarding and you get your point across much better. At least I think so….SO, this is where we stand on the fact. Lizzy-wa is a Twilight fan. I am a Harry Potter fan. Anybody else, whatever you are, who CARES? Cuz apparently, we’re ALL Scott-la’s fans.
