Melbourne Writers’ Festival

Greetings, Victorians!

Next week Justine and I are headed to the Melbourne Writers Festival. I’ll be doing five events, and at all of them I’ll be revealing fabulous Leviathan art and talking about the series, as well as other Deep Topics as listed below.

Note that you have to get tickets for these events. The Sunday event Justine and I are on is a bit pricey. You can book tickets here. All my other events are only $6, and you can book them here.

See you there!

  1. FIRST COMMENT! ahh, do you know how long its been since i got first comment? i do believe its been over a year…

  2. there is a victoria in Austrailia?….I guess I shouldn’t be surprized considering I grew up in a city that Harry Potter grew up in….and I live in Canada :P…yay Surrey

  3. Aww I wish I could go! But sadly I live in Virgina, USA. Grr how I wish I could live in Australia!

  4. See you there! Had to beg organisers for more tickets – they were very happy, after much pleading and heart-rendering sobs, to ‘release’ a couple more (many thanks to organisers of MWF).

  5. So I’m taking it that this is in Austrailia?…..dam, I wish I could go there once in my life… if you mean victoria, BC, I would be very happy(but nothing exciting happens here so I no it would never happen

  6. OMG HI!!! Im already going to one of your events, although its not listed here… I really want to go to the science in fiction, and im pretty sure i can make it. HAZZA!! 5 days till i meet u!!!!
It hasnt sunk in yet… have to think of some questions… anyone got some?

  8. Grrrrrrrrrrrr I live in America!!!!!!!!! I want to meet Scott soooooo bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Boooooooo hoooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. I was extremely disappointed to see that most of your and Justine’s events are for schoolchildren only. In fact, all the interesting SF/YA/writing skills events are for schools — what about the working writers who want to see you? Who want to discuss the meat and bones of writing SF and YA with you guys?

    MWF fails this year.

  10. YAY, I’m so excited! You’ll be seeing me there on the Tuesday for both sessions, and I’ll probably go to the others too. You’ll know me by the manic grin, and the fact I’ll be flailing all my copies of your books at you after the sessions. Hooray!

  11. I know you are often in the city, but you should try coming a little more north to albany or saratoga!!!! do it, you know you want to. xD

  12. Hey, Scott, quick question: are you going to have someone flim the festival when you talk? because I live in the USA and can’t see you at the festival. If you are, please post it. thnx!

  13. Also, I was wondering if you were going to be at TLA down here in San Antonio, next year. I know you did last year in Houston, (or Austin, can’t remember), but I’d like to see you again, actually my whole book club would. thnx for writing!

  14. Ahhhhh! Aaaaaustralia! Y? Y can’t all these amazing conventions be held in… oh, i dunno, ohio, perhaps? Darn my teensy midwestern state! Oh, and ping-la to hoverborder, 5,000,000,000,000,000… etc. miles would be like going to the sun and back ummm… 27,003,672,500,000,000,000,000, so u must live EXTREMELY far away ( not ). I pity u.

  15. Ohhh… I wish I liked in Australia. When you come back to the US you should do a Leviathan tour and hit some of the major cities… You could team up with some of the other authors with books coming out and have one big giant tour of pure AWESOME. :]

  16. wow all those events sound amazing. i so wish i could go, but alas, i can not. high school can be a pain sometimes. really depressing-making ya know? anywho, to those who go… you are very lucky!!!

  17. oh you Americans already get all the fun, why not give Canada some fun….not in Toronto cause that so does not count….I wish I lived in Austrailia

  18. WAAAA!!!
    I’m going to misss itt!!
I want to get my books signed tooo… 🙁

When the Uglies movie comes out, don’t you all want special Circumstances to be actually scary??
and pretties to be actually drop dead goregous??
    No joke though…

  19. Ah, damn, wish my school was going. I SPECIFICALLY asked them, and it never happened >;(
Would so be there, but I have school. Would so skip school (for greater learning experiences, of course!) except it’s during my school musical rehearsals. Would so skip musical rehearsals, but… it’s the week of the performances :P. Damn.
Ah well. And stop complaining, you Americans. We hardly get anything :).

  20. I met Scott!!!! I’m still giddy. I feel like such an idiot, I asked a question I actually know the answer to, that’s how excited I was! Breath in breath out…. 🙂

  21. (oh and if you are really jelous it may please you to know that I got crapped on by an enormous bird straight after at flinder street…)

  22. Aww…just a little bit further north please? T__T! But I’m glad you’re coming down to Australia where we tend to miss out on awesome celebrity/book/popular-culture things altogether, unlike the USA *cough*

Will you be attending the Sydney Writer’s Festival sometime in the future? o:

  23. Awwww, why does all the cool stuff happen so far away???

I just found something on the site, guys – and I may be slow and you might all already know it but I’ll mention it anyway – where the little wisps of smoke or whatever come out at the top of the page, if you hover your mouse over it you can watch a trailer for Levithan, and it’s really cool! I wanna read the book now, heh.

  24. aww no fair, can I join you?
I want to get out of this place….arg I hate SURREY
    its been taken over
I need to get away when I get older….even just the okanogan(Canada’s idea of a “desert”)If I were to go to Austrailia I would be in heaven…or the coast of england…I dont know why but that’s always seemed kool to me

  25. Oh, and my gawd please stop talking about the uglies movie… I’m still not happy about that, Scott-sama. Not happy at all, because they’re going to screw it all up 😛
