  1. And the lizzard at the top needs to be changed it says it will be out in 2 days and that ain’t true!!!! lol

  2. I wish I could be there to see you, but at least I bought your book after school yesterday. — Can’t wait to finish it.

  3. one, i think it’s weird how people say what post they are, it’s silly.

but congrats on the tour πŸ™‚

  4. wow, so wish i could b there :(. Also, anoher bogus thing: i didn’t get leviathan yesterday. my mom was too”tired”! i’ll b getting it otday, though.

  5. EEEEEEEEE. Leviathan just came in the mail. It wasn’t supposed to be here until the 9th. -hops up and down-

  6. My favorite science fiction author just wrote a Steampunk novel! I can’t wait to get my hands on it!! Arrgh the anticipation!

  7. mannn!! I WANT LEVTHIANNN!!! but i guess ill read it first but IM STILL WAITING FOR THE 6TH PLL!!!! goo torontoo!!

  8. OH AND YOUR FORUM SUCKKK no offence scott-la : p
BUT ITS FILLED WITH FUKIN SPAM AND PPL WANT TO GET TO KNOW MMEE!! AHHH! FREACKKSS! douche bagss

  9. Just finished Leviathan about an hour ago, it was amazing! I’ve been so enthusiastic about it I have a line of friends wanting to borrow it. Hopefully some of them will get tired of waiting and buy it for themselves, haha.

  10. The Santa Monica event was so fun! Thanks for signing all my books Scott! It was so much fun! (Oh and the slideshow was pretty fawesome. haha.) πŸ˜€

  11. YAY! I was at La Verne today and Scott signed like 7 books for me, Leviathan being one πŸ™‚ THANK YOU SO MUCH !! It was so much fun and the presentation/slideshow/iphonecrazy gadget was crazy COOL. Lol tell Justine not to text you during those πŸ˜›

Congrats on the tour and the book and I can’t wait to devour it and have it consume my life.
    <3

  12. Oh P.S. on the way home from La Verne I saw a store called TALLY FOR MEN and took a picture.
lol it was a men’s clothing store I guess.

  13. Okay…so I already wrote this post but when I hit send earlier it disappeared πŸ™ We’ll try again.

Okay so woohoo! My mom rocks and sucked it up, lol, and took me to La Verne for the signing thingy. πŸ˜€ Which rocked so much. Scott you are awesome and funny πŸ™‚ I loved the presentation! And I cannot wait until I can actually sit down and read this book πŸ˜€ it was fantastic to meet you. Juuust soes you know, I’m the girl who was wearing the “Blind Mag” shirt. Sarah Brightman’s character in Repo! The Genetic Opera. It’s a brilliant horror musical. It includes gore, strong language, some sexual stuff, and lots of industrial music…hah, I sound like a rating…but seriously, if none of that rubs you the wrong way, it’s a great movie with a great cast, I think you might dig it. The basic premisis of the movie is that the giant corporation, Geneco, has made everyone addicted to surgery, or you’ve needed an organ transplant and they were your only option. And so now you’re in debt to them…and if you can’t pay them back…they’ll repossess the organ(s)…there’s more to it than that and it’s actually a drama really, with some cool combic book story board things…you should check it out πŸ™‚ I wish I could have talked to you more at the store but I felt like people really wanted me to go already so I walked away. Rocky Horror is a wonderful movie too though πŸ˜›

  14. AAAHHH!!! I JUST FINISHED LEVIATHAN!!!!! AND IT IS SOOOOOOOOOO AMAZING!!! Scott-la, you are an awesome writer! How do you do such great action scenes? (there’s something about them that has me reading under the table at school!) HOW AM I GOING TO WAIT FOR BOOK 2????

  15. hmmm…ok well i thought i had posted something already but my computer says i didn’t so…i might be repeating myself but…i had something else to add.
so my first post (well i thought it was my first) said i wanna get Leviathan but im gonna blow my money on a kick ass Halloween costume coz you can’t go to a costume party without a killer costume! i love Halloween.
ok so quick note that has NOTHING to do with ANYTHING hahaha…is that Matt Damon (one of the hottest guys on the planet :)) turned 39 today October 8! so Happy Birthday Matt!!! πŸ™‚
and now related to the whole world that might be an issue…i’ll let you decide…tomorrow October 9 they are going to BOMB THE MOON!!!! i think that sounds like a bad idea but maybe that’s just me…my mom told me they’re doing this to see if water comes out of the crater or whatever they make on the moon. i think it’s a bad idea coz what if it all goes horribly wrong? the moon controls the tides so this could like create a tsunami or something worse and totally jack up our oceans and our water!!! who cares if the moon has water?!?!?! what happens if OUR water sources get effed up coz of this???? yeah…i was like wtf? when my mom told me…so i just thought i’d let you all know. So HAPPY EARLY BOMBING THE MOON DAY TO ALL OF YOU!!!! πŸ™‚

tell me a story into that goodnight…
    GREEN DAY ROCKS!!!! <3

  16. I was so ecstatic to meet you in LaVerne! Thanks so much for signing my books, and when I showed my English teacher the one you signed for her she had such a big smile… Thanks for the great experience, and all the awesome facts about your research and illustrations! It was fascinating, and I’ll never forget it. Can’t wait to read the book! <3

  17. The Menlo Park event was great! I loved your responses during the Q-and-A, and while I hadn’t heard of Leviathan before, I grabbed a copy right away. It’s fantastic; I got to read a good chunk of it on the train home, and I’m definitly going to check out the Uglies Tril-Quadrilogy. πŸ™‚

I didn’t want to bug you while you were signing, but if you have a chance to answer one more question:

Do you have any advice for young illustrators about getting into the position Keith Thompson is in, such as how to show art to editors, etc? (My art’s sometimes similar to his style: http://bit.ly/WkOcu or http://bit.ly/b0RyT, which is something I haven’t seen recently in YA books– they’re all based on photo collages or abstract designs.)

Your advice about writing all the way through (not just practicing a million versions of beginnings) was fantastic– it’s really applicable to art, and made me think that I’m doing just that right now. I haven’t finished a painting in so long, just started hundreds, and brought a handful to the middle, but I’m crap at endings. I’ll try to fix that. πŸ™‚

Thank you for coming to talk! Good luck on the rest of the books; I’ll be watching for when they come out.

  18. ugh! i really wish i could get leviathan now!
i went into a bookstore and found it and skimmed
looks good, hopefully will get it soon
    loveyouscott πŸ™‚

  19. …so bored in school…not doing what i should…:) really why do what i should when what i could be doing is what i would be doing if i wasn’t doing what i should be doing?

    ….did anyone follow that? i barely did..but i still think it’s a kick ass quote! πŸ™‚
TGIF! cant wait for school to be done with…it’s almost lunch and that means almost half the day is over…there’s a pep rally today…boring! homecoming weekend…not going…hate it. whatever! haha

gonna go costume shopping this weekend! πŸ™‚ excited! can’t wait for HALLOWEEN!!! πŸ™‚

tell me a story into that goodnight…
    GREEN DAY ROCKS!!! <3

oh and i have to say twilight does not compare to uglies!

  21. When is the next book in the Leviathan series due for publication and what will be the title? The local county public library bought Leviathan and put it on the new book display. I regularly check the display for new books that might pique my interest. Leviathan certainly did. I would like to recommend that the library purchase the next book in the series.

  22. ping to Sarah-la: Hi! Haven’t seen u in a while. Is your real name actually Jane cause that’s what it said when I went on your neopet thing. Just wondering. Volleyball season’s finally over for me so maybe I’ll have time to get some writing ideas. . . anyway, see you later! πŸ˜€

  23. In the middle of reading Leviathan..its so good so far….already i am looking forward to the second book! okayy im kinda bored right now. i just got back from soccer practice and its all rainy and wet and we did diving headers!!!! I had my horrible guest that offened Uglies and compared it to twilight over again! she suckksss read my rarly used blog for it, ill try to post it! πŸ˜›

  25. SCOTT-SAMA. WHERE THE FRICK IS THE LINK TO YOUR STORE? I WANNA LOOK AT THE PRETTY CLOTHES AND STUFF BUT I CAN’T FIND IT ANYWHERE!

That said, fun stuff. Too bad you’re not coming to Kentucky, or anywhere close enough for me to go…!

  26. Ping to Robin Jordan-
    According to Scott’s Twitter:

2:08 PM Oct 3rd from web
First draft of Behemoth is done–83,739 words. One day off before Leviathan tour starts. Um, w00t?

Behemoth is the next book (title) and as for its publication… I can only guess probably in a year or so. Esp if the illustrations are going to be as dynamic as Leviathan

  27. i just changed my name. it used to be Jessie-wa. i changed it cuz ive had it Jessie-wa for a while and i looooooove david and zane

  28. Ping Jessie-wa,
I like David better too! But my ABSOLUTE favorite character is Shay! Of course, there’s also Yoshi Banana, who has the coolest name EVER!!!! πŸ˜€
    How come everybody likes Zane??

  29. Hey Scott-la, check out my blog! (www.freshtalkingkids.com) I wrote a review of Uglies! And I’ll do one of Leviathan soon!!!
Even though my review says I liked both Uglies and Twilight, I thought Uglies was SOOO much better!! As well as action and excitement, I think it has depth and emotion too! (something Twilight doesn’t have at all!)

  30. Team Yoshi Banana!: i dont get y everyone likes zane so much either, seriously all tally and him did was makeout, they didnt talk. at all! and Yoshi Banana does have an awesome name, i also think Frizz Mizuno and Ren Machino have pretty awesome names too. i like twilight too i just got mad a couple comments ago(i dunno where it was though) when someone said that this person compared it to uglies. i was like “twilight does not compare to the uglies series!!!!!” or somethin like that cuz it doesnt. i’ll check out ur blog later.
    bye everyone!
