I love the Midnighters. It is my favorite series, and I’m a librarian who reads anything and everything she can get her hands on. The finger puppets were really cute. I so wish that this series would keep going b/c I don’t really love the way it ended, but anyways I just wanted to say cute puppets to the artist.

I didn’t like Tally in Extras… she didn’t seem like the same person she was in Specials… but probably that was because she was older in Extras and the book didn’t follow her as much. But yeah, I didn’t like Aya until the end of the book.
Was anyone else seriously bothered that Dr. Cable never appeared in Extras? (I really wanted to know what happened to her!)
I bet someday Dr. Cable is going to get into some other kind of trouble… I thought she wouldn’t be able to stand not being a Special anymore, since she was one for so long. Don’t you think it would get a little depressing not having all these super-things that you used to have?

Happy new years! I remember reading the midnighters series. it was amazing. i need to find it again. Ive always wanted to try fan art but i dont think it’s ever turned out well. ah well, those fan art picture however are completely amazing. i rly like the extras cover. haha anywho…. uh… yea.

It would be icy to see Uglies rewritten from Shay’s point of view, but I don’t think it would really work out. It wouldn’t be an exciting book to read, because you’d already know what would happen. And it probably wouldn’t be that fun for Scott to write, because all the character’s conversations would have to be the same!
But yeah, I’d love to read that!
Maybe it could be just part of the series, from Shay’s point of view. Sort of like Stephenie Meyer writing Midnight Sun. But it would probably mostly be about Shay feeling like Tally is so awful and a bogus friend for choosing Zane/David over her, and I’m not sure all the people who like Zane/David/Tally better than Shay would like that.
I don’t know whether I am just being IRRITATING, but has anyone noticed little GLITCHES in scott’s writing, things that just DON”T fit?
I don’t know if this is just all in my head but in Uglies I noticed how Tally says that she is taller than Pretty standard:
“She was taller than pretty standard, she knew; the jacket probably wasn’t expecting so much weight” (23).
Then, in Pretties, Tally meets David again and they both ride two to one hoverboard, and Tally has to ride in back because she is taller than him:
“They rode his board. Tally was taller than David now, so she stood behind him, hands around his waist” (325).
Does ANYONE have ANY answers to why this might be? Dis Special Circumstances just to make her abnormal-Pretty tall? Am I crazzzzzzzzy?

@ Me and My Spagbol– I don’t really get your question… Sorry, but I don’t see how those two things are inconsistent. Maybe if you re-frased I could try to help?
Another thing to take notice at that is really cool, though, is the little differences you can see in the surge of teens that are probably destined for Special Circumstances, like how Tally describes Zane when she first meets him– that his features were teetering on the verge of Pretty Committee limits, how his beauty could just almost be a cruel beauty– if you think about it, how he could so easily be switched over to a Special. That made me a little sad when I re-read that part…
Ooops– typo– wrote too fast. That should be re-phrased…
@me and my spagbol – when tally was an ugly, she was naturally taller than the average pretty. when she was a pretty, she was still taller than david. he’s prolly just a short guy 😉

That makes sense, but if Tally was taller than David when she was an ugly, why would it say, “taller than David now?” instead of just, “taller than David?”

Ya that’s what I thought at first, but then in Uglies Tally rode in front of David:
“Riding double was something Tally had never done before, and she found herself glad she was with David and not just anyone. She stood in front of him, bodies touching, her arms out, his hands around her waist” (326).
So why would Tally ride in font of Davis if she was taller than him in Uglies?
I don’t know… maybe someone could look up the page numbers to see is I’m missing something 🙂 !!!!!

I never had realized that the reason Zane almost looked cruel as a Pretty was because he was destined to be Special. It makes a lot of sense and it is really cool that you had noticed that, and it also makes me sad… 🙁
To rephrase my comment I guess I could say that I am confused about how Tally was said to be taller than an average Pretty as an ugly and rode in the front of David on a hoverboard, but then when Tally became Pretty, she was said to be taller than David NOW, and rode in the back of David.
So I am confused about why Tally would be said to be taller as Pretty than as an Ugly, when she was taller than an average Pretty as an Ugly…gosh that’s a tongue twister…
So anyways, I could rephrase my questions as thus: Wouldn’t the Pretty Committee make Tally shorter during the operation, to make Tally average Pretty height? And so why is Tally said to be taller after the operation? Wouldn’t she be shorter?
