June Art Reveal

Here is the Goliath art reveal for June, based on your voting!

I was going to wait until 300 votes had come in, but by vote number 222 one of the illustrations had achieved an unassailable lead! Here’s what I mean:

Illustration One: 125 votes
Illustration Two: 17 votes
Illustration Three: 29 votes

With 78 votes left to be counted, even if Illustration three got all of them, number one was still going to win. SO I STOPPED COUNTING, which I’m sure would be cool with the Supreme Court, who are all, like, whatever about this stuff.

So here we have it, Illustration One!

Now, some of you may have noticed that it is time for Fan Art Fortnightly, but I have cleverly stomped on it with this art reveal. Why? Is it because I hate fan art?

NO. I LOVES ME SOME FAN ART. But I had foolishly promised to do a Fan Fic Fan Art Fortnightly (AKA FFFAF) and it’s been impossible to choose from among the bajillion weird and wonderful fan fics out there. So why don’t you guys help me out?

Use this comment thread to suggest to each other any awesome fan fictions you’ve found, from any of my books.

And in a week or two I’ll put up some more drawings, because that’s easier.

New Update

Leviathan just sold in Japan! So we’ll be seeing the Japanese version in a year or so. Cool, huh?

  3. AAAGHHHH!!! I won’t be commenting like all summer cuz my parents decided to go somewhere thats lacks technology….. and by the time you read this I will be gone already…… see y’all in 3 months.

    @myst47(hannah): Heck Yeah! Though it made me really depressed I loved gone and married (or was it the other way around), And I totally support Captain Sullivan, Blackbird, and Jetteh.

  5. based on the title of the previous pics he’s shown i believe that Dr Barlow receives a message about the clankers transporting something and she sends someone, liking ‘Dylan’ to retrieve it on some sort of bird, using a hook. Then Alek and Deryn realize something or other and have to steal from their own ship.

  7. Finishing up my Leviathan collage. It’s a jumble of pictures in the shape of a giant WWI. Pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

    By the way, I went back and watched that old Disney movie Atlantis. IF THERE WAS A MOVIE I COULD COMPARE TO LEVIATHAN IT WOULD BE THIS ONE. They even have a Leviathan in it!(Except there’s is a giant evil mechanical scorpion that live in the ocean. Still, pretty awesome.) I recommend it to anyone who loves a good (if not slightly odd) anime/cartoon movie.

  11. Here are some fanfictions that I have found on the internet that really made me excited! I absolutely LOVED them! The writing is beautiful, the stories are entertaining, keeping you on the edge of your seat. You can realy feel the emotions through the words that this authour wrote. I am extemely happy that I have read these, and this author really diserves some publicity. I hope more people will read these wonderful stories, and also think the same way as I. Thank you. 🙂

    “What is the Goliath” is my personal favorite.
    This is also the first thing I have ever read fic about- Ive never been aware that there is a way to cope with dying for the next book to come out or wanted to read it so badly that I felt a need to fill in the gap.
    I’m not sure if it’s helping, but it’s definitely fun. Sometimes.

    Fic also makes me appreciate the literate writers in the world. There are a few that are so bad I had to reread sentences to figure out what the author means to say. The worst thing is when the story is good, but the writer can’t spell or use grammar correctly to save his or her life.

    Thank you for being literate, Scott. It makes my day.

Fanfiction can be so hit and miss – sometimes they’re amazing and you have to wonder why the writer is spending their time working on other author’s fiction and not their own, sometimes it’s almost an insult to the original and you have to struggle through reams of nonsensical fan girl imaginings. I know we’re all fangirls (or boys) when you break it down but they still have to make sense right? At least in the universe they’re set in.

    yesterday i read the first chapter of the son of neptune and thats on greek/roman mythology your books are so much cooler you are so much cooler so come on let us read the first chapter its just one chapter it wont hurt us

  27. @ Cosmosis, that description wasn’t as spoilery as I expected. Unless I read the wrong thing. But there are a lot of spoilers out there, and I try to avoid them. But Blisters, sometimes I just cannot help myself.

  31. Read the spoiler (couldn’t help myself). Not as bad as I thought. That first paragraph was interesting, however…why do I get a feeling that this has something to do with Edison?

    Whoever said to post the first chapter for Goliath….I second that motion.

    And whoever mentioned Howl’s Moving Castle…that is my favorite anime movie. 🙂 Christian Bale as Howl-mmmmmmmm…

  32. As much as I would love to read the first chapter… I think it’s better for all of us if it wasn’t put up online. It would only make the wait harder because this series is a page turner and to only have one chapter and then stop would be crazy. Especially if it’s a cliff hanger.

    I feel like I’m living out the Deathly Hallows again. That wait was EXCRUCIATING. But in the end, totally worth it.

    As for fan fics, I like this one: http://fav.me/d3gy1sy A friend of mine wrote it. It was her first fic of the Leviathan series and it was pretty good. I hope you’ll look at it (she’ll freak out if I tell her I’m doing this)

  39. Someone mentioned me! Thanks CaptainSullivan 🙂 It is Varlow but I try to stick to canon, seeing how she was married and all. I at least try to mention Mr. Barlow (or Dr…because if I recall correctly, he was a Boffin too).

    While I’m here, you should read her original fic that I wrote the backstory for. I guess was a joint effort but she inspired me to fill in the blanks concerning Volger and Barlow. Kind of like ‘Meanwhile, Back In Austria”. Hers was really good and very engaging. Mine wouldn’t exist with out it!

    Oh! And does anyone actually know what Volger’s first name is?

  40. @ Nora Barlow, Volger’s first name is Ernst. And for the sake of Varlow I think cannon can be tossed out the window. This is alternative history after all.
