Today in Latin class, we were discussing Roman history, but some how my teacher got on a tangent about German literature. She talked about this German book she read about a war where there were automatons and robots and other mechanical things taking over Europe. She also mentioned crossdressing girls who go to war. Not sure if it was the same book or not, I was pretty tired this morning. But, it reminded me of Leviathan, very much so.

K. Explosion Tag

Students pretend to be fighter pilots. They zoom around the room chasing other fighter pilots. When they tag the "plane" it explodes.

After the explosion, they may continue the activity pursuing other pilots.
For some reason this game reminded me of Levi.

I shall. She mentioned the name, but it was German and I was half-asleep. :P

That sounds like a cool book.

I was reminded of the series when writing my research paper on Art Nouveau today. Apparently, Art Nouveau was actually inspired by Charles Darwin's theories. Which makes the whole Darwinist artistic style make even more sense to me than it did before. :) Though it's sad that there wouldn't be Jugendstil and Vienna Secession movements in the Leviathan universe.

Also, is it sad that I thought it was really cool that the Glasgow School and (Austrian) Vienna Secession Art Nouveau movements were very closely aligned despite their geographical differences, and they liked to go visit each other? XD

Has anyone seen the miniseries Downton Abbey? It’s great, and it takes place in 1912-1914. There were several mentions of the Archduke’s assassination and women’s rights. Aristocrats and commoners mingling and I smell trouble-making romance brewing which means drama! :D There are bowler hats and British people and gorgeous period dresses that I love to imagine Dr. Barlow in. How can Deryn possibly hate dresses?

Anyway, there are lots of things to remind me of Leviathan. It’s very addictive. Season 2 starts in January, can’t wait.
