  6. Why did they put Specials before Pretties? And I wish schools had us read books like Uglies. It’s entertaining and it teaches a good moral. And I think learning that beauty has got to do with your personality more than your looks is more important now than it used to be. And it touches a nerve all teenagers think of.

    Zane (Pretties) and Tally (Uglies) were making out in New Pretty Town. When all of a sudden, Dr. Cable showed up and offered to make Tally a special, she refused. Then a big, giant worm (Peeps) showed up along with Pyscho Kitty (Midnighters). David (Uglies) started hitting Pyscho Kitty with Arachnophobia. This is when Maddie comes and tells Tally the dangers of boys. And through all this junk, Tally and Zane were still making out.

    Loved the interview. I’m waiting for my Extras book (very impaitiently)like I have been since I pre-ordered it a couple of months ago. ahh I’m going crazy. Hopefully I’ll get it tommorow. I’ve read the whole Uglies trioliogy like a thousand times, just waiting. It’s so good. Everyone keeps asking me why I do. But I tell them it’s so good, and I tell them to read and they do and boom they loooooooooooove it. Can’t wait for Extra’s book. I’m going to be reading it all night. EEEEEEEEEEk!!!!!11 Going insane.

  33. Hello, Scott I’m back, after reading most of your blogs. I’m very impaitient right now I’m just waiting for tomorrow. I’ll be right back my eyes hurt from squinting so I’m going to go get my glasses….. OK I’m back. I’m so stupid I should have just left them on. I have a question about the wa la thing I know there was posts about them forever ago but I can’t find them. HELP! When is tomorrow going to come. If I go to bed now then tomorrow will come sooner, but then we’ll have school and it gets kinda boring. and for some reason even though all my life english has been my BEST subject, I think it’s my worst right now. How horrible can that be. maybe it’s because I can’t see the teacher from all the big heads in my way. Sorry to anyone in my class that reads this. (hint, hint) Maybe it’s because I’ve been so strangely overly tired then usual,but I don’t know. Oh great I’ve just been rambling on sorry for everyone who reads this. Also you know what would be cool. If you, Scott Westerfeld, not you as in these comments we all write, write the uglies, pretties, and special books over again, but in Shay or Davids or Zanes (or maybe all of them ;D ) point of view, instead of Tally’s. That would be awesome. My hands hurt. I just wrote a three page essay for english. owwwwwwww it had to be typed. Then I have to write it over tomorrow. Owwwwwwwwwwy. Well this post is probably extremely long so I should probably stop babbling.Bye.

  38. ok so i pre-ordered mine as well…and it’s totally sad-making! 🙁 my mom says it should be coming tomorrow, but she’s not going to let me read it until i finish my dang East of Eden book for honors english… 🙁 ughhhhhh…im so sad! East of Eden is a long disturbing book and its not exciting like Scott’s books are…why do classics have to be so dull? tomorrow is going to suck! if i do get my book my mom is going to hold it hostage until im finished with East of Eden and on top of that i have to run the mile in p.e. tomorrow…bleh. this was just not a good week. 🙁 anyways enough of my mopping. time to go study.

  39. that’s so cool, scott. yeah. you’re right we “young adults” love to make up new slang. teehee. even if they are random and waay out of the norm. now i really want to read Extras. haha anyone remember when i said my dad was getting it for me…well he said he went to Barnes & Noble and found out that is was $11.99…he said “oh. i saw it at the bookstore but i think it is cheap enough for you to get it on your own” GAH!!! I was so expecting to read it when I got home…=/

  41. wow…i just read my comment and i sound so incredibly sad and lame! i should focus on the positive things like Grey’s Anatomy being awesome tonight…and the fact that i acutally might get Extras tomorrow, which is good b/c at least i get a copy! oh and b/c i pre-ordered my mom let me get 2 other books too…i chose So Yesterday and the 1st book in the Midnighters series! 🙂 hmmm…what else is happy-making? 1 more day and it’s the weekend! 🙂

    Mr. Scott David Westerfeld, my dear friend Kheidi-la just got back from a signing there in Wisconsin and she told me about how you told them where you got you scar from. And I was like well thats esay you got it from fencing, and she was like nope “Well i forget who but someone put up some new pelxiglass like stuff in i think his parents house and he wasnt paying attention and he ran into this new “forcefeild” and there was blood everywhere and now he has scar… according to him”
    so i was like thats odd i couldve sworn i saw that somewhere and then I found it.. in your words:

  44. I was rereading pretties and i’m at the part where tally got her flash tatoo. I didn’t realize before but it said she got her eyes done like shays. are they still like that? and do shay and fausto still have thier flash tatoos (and eyes for shay) or did i miss the part where they got them removed?

  46. Oooooh that was cool to hear what you think of us like how involved with are with language and all that….very very cool. Still haven’t gotten extras too busy to go out to the mall good golly i wish i could just pause time sometimes..but you can’t. Anyway hopefully i’ll get it this weekend but then i’ll have to wait to read it cause i’m in the middle of Pride and Prejudice…see if i hadn’t had to wait so long on your book i wouldn’t have had to move on.lol

  61. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!! I read the book last night. Can’t tell any details though. But it was awesome. I read it in 4 hours.

    This is what my day was yesterday before I got the book.

    1st bell, Orchestra:
    (in Orchestra room while tunning our instruments) AMELIA-twisting tunning peg way to much going way out of tune.Thinking about when she gets out of her so she can go home and get her extras book. Looks down as her string is about to break.
    says:oops thats not good.
    thinks: must pay attention.
    2nd bell, PE: thinks- grrrrrrrr when am I going to get my extras book, I should be getting it today. grrrr
    SMACK a dodge ball hits her square in her face. Because she was too intent on thinking about extras.
    3rd bell:Advanced english. (class is taking a test)
    (AMELIA is daydreaming) tapping her fingers on her desk in an inpaitient way.
    TEACHER: Amelia you better pay attention to your test and stop distracting everyone or else your going to get a dimaert and you wont be able to finish your test and you’ll get a 0.
    3,Advanced science,4 & 5 bell) sighing and taps fingers impaitently.
    6th bell: thinking- yessss schools almost out.
    getting off bus:runs home grabs mail sees book. and screams in joy. yyyyyyyyyyyyya. and runs up the steps to start reading her book. as she see’s the cute boy next door staring at her but she doesn’t care she got her book.
    yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

    and chasing midnight is a pretty cool title.
    my *not* fanfic speculation has been revolving around the time of thier high school graduation—-so i have subtle titles like Graduation.

    and my day was a lot like that too, amelia-wa. except it included scrawling extras-related things in notebooks and making a crazy poster.

    but the funniest thing was finishing the last 20 pages of Midnight Alley in first period enligsh.

  64. The extras book was soooooooooooooo good. I’m reading it again. I forget where I read it or heard it, but I heard, or read, that Scott Westerfeld might not make another book for Uglies, (book 5) so sad. tear. tear. Scott, you need to come to Virginia. It would be so cool to meet you.

  81. Yeah, movies kill. XP They make everything overrated and not as good. Like just look at HGarry Potter. Movies lead to action figures and to everyone wanting to read the books and make reading them not as fun.
