I’m up in Saratoga Springs, New York for World Fantasy. Lots of Australians here, which is fun, and assorted agents, authors, and editors.

So, did anyone see any interesting Halloween costumes out there? Either Westerfeldian characters or just cool? Send me any cool pictures for posting, or link to a Flickr stream in the comments if you want.

  1. Na…. I don’t like it when people dye their hair black. It depends…. if you do — please– don’t be one of thoes people who wait like 6 monthes to dye their hair again.

  2. Unfortunately at nineteen (almost 20) you can no longer really get away with trick-or-treating. Which sucks, since when is anyone really EVER too old for free candy and costumes?

    But before the Halloween party I was going to go to got canceled, I had planned on being a Special Circumstance. I designed a shirt that said “We are Special Circumstances” and even practiced my cool Special makeup. But alas, the party was kicked. Supposed it wasn’t meant to be. For this year, anyway.

  11. Coloriiifiiic, wow, I love the picture! There’s something very creepy about the lighting that really brings out the snakes and your eyes! (and are they flash tattoos on your arms? o__o creepy-making!)

  24. dess would be a great costume, but i dunno what u would do for that.

    and i’m….well sort of a bloody hypocrite cuz like i’ve sorta never read the clique books. so i don’t know. however, i’m also totally preachy, so go read one of the million books i’ve recc’d on here before. maybe i’ll post my many books that changed my life with thier awesomeness list again.

Definitly wishing I’d have thought of going as a special…I really didn’t have time to think about Halloween costumes…two tests the day before sent me rushing to Halloween USA the day before halloween…being a special wouldnt have been that hard either…although slightly scary-making for my boyfriend whom I went trick-or-treating with…i think the cape i had on scared him enough…oh well, if he can’t handle it its not my fault. Lauren’s flash tatoo is pretty awesome though. halloween ’07 definitly totally bubbly.

    yes, i know. that’s the best story ever. i love reccomendations for obscure fantasy stuff!!! please anyone who feels like it!!! contemperary urban YA fantasy, i need more of you!!!! maybe it’d help if i took out a few of the adjectives in my genre classification. i’m actually really picky when it comes to books. and i’m ALL OUT OF THINGS TO READ!!!! quick, recc me before my head explodes!

  32. Oh, Scott. I would have gone, if only I could. And even then I don’t think I could have dressed up as one of your amazing characters. I’d go as Shay if I had the time and the Sharpies for it, and if I thought I could even slightly bear semblance to her incredible icy-ness (Zane and Shay have always been my favorite characters.), but alas.

    I already had a wig.

    The world is a sad place, no? But being L from Death Note was so much fun. And no, I never thought I’d call cross-dressing fun. But it was.
