I recently ran across my all-time favorite piece of Midnighters fan art. Here are Bixby’s fab five as envisioned by Shira-chan:

What makes this so great is that all the characters have been transformed into manga-tastic superheroes. Dess is a mathy warrior goddess. Melissa and Rex are brooding goth magicians. Jonathan hovers a bit out of the group, a sly smirk on his face. And Jessica really looks very 11:59, from a different world than the rest of them. And yet she’s still totally cool—her flashlight like a rock star’s microphone in her hand.

Jonathan’s t-shirt has a corporate-logo version of the acrobat sign on it.

  4. i’m actually really flexible. i can do the splits. but i’m not one for the air. like i can kinda do toe-touches but i don’t keep my back straight enough. i had my recital tonight. it went soooooo very well! we might have been a tad bit fast. other than that no one messed up. and it was so much fun because we are like these gothic/punk/chicks who are like get out of my way….. and we are all attitude. i looked so mean. it was fawesome though. we perform once more tomorrow night. 😀

Had to mention it 😉 I feel the same way about posting about other books by different authors (and scott-la didn’t mention on the blog). yes, it’s really good. probably at a tie with my favorite single-book, Fever 1793. Very good, kinda sad. It’s my LA teacher’s fave and she let me borrow it to read on the bus ride to Atlanta, GA on my 7th grade trip.

  7. fawesome, bran-la!! im catholic too!!! i find so few others where i am, mainly at catholic youth conventions, but thats kinda a no-brainer as to why that is. sorry havent even read the past like 100 comments, so i hav no clu wats going on & stuff, but yea. hey tally&zane, im a pre-fish, too(fixing to leave 8th grade) i feel your pain. stress-wise with all the homework, projects, and finals and all, and back-pack-weight-wise. its all so stupid!!!! they tell us that we need to enjoy life & childhood while it lasts, but how’re we s’posed 2 do that wen we liv our hole childhood for the ‘all-mighty, all-important, life-deciding’ tests!!! those ppl in charge of skools r so brain-missing!!! aaarrrghhh!!! …k. my rant is over now. onto more happy subjects, all of my finals and TAKS tests are over now!!!! i did good, too!!! gosh, i really need to get out of honors classes for next year. this year was bad enough. ugh! NO. MORE. SAD-MAKING. SUBJECTS!!!!!!!!!! so anyways…….. GO NINJAS!!! & SPIDERMAN!!!! hey scott, this is totally random, but that would be so cool is spiderman was a midnighter. but wud he hav a special midnighter power, sice he already has super-powers!!! hhhmmmmmm……. contemplation…. wooo!!!!!!!!!! 13 letters!!!! go anti-darklingness!!!!!!! noooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! without the anti on that previous word, its a darkling word!!!!!! 🙁 🙁 🙁 okay, i am getting waaaaaaaaaaaay off subject now… o yea!!!!!! the wholereason i was here, even though i havent ben in like forever, the picture!!!!!!!!

    scott, even if this sounds kinda retarded, u should totally make a tv show series with them being all animated manga-supereroes and all!!! that would be totally the fawesomest ever!!!!!!!!! then you wouldn’t have to worry about bad actors ruining the show!!! (nor would anyone have to worry about special effects – that can also ruin the appearnce of a book made into a movie/tv show. )

    k. that has got to be my longest post ever. i doubt anyone will een read it, since its so long, and basically pointless. sorry about that to anyone who actually read the whole thing. lol i gess im just 9in a really talkative mood rite now. i don’t think im hyper, tho, cuz im not screaming my head off, or running around like a Hammie(over the hedge), bugging everyone i happen to come in contact with. wow. i really need to stop typing. my fingers are going to be too worn out to play my flute 2moro in band. that would be a shame, since were playing like one of the fawesomest songs possible: star wars!!!! its a really hard version(okay, well not hard for me, but an extremely advanced version) of it, and is very fun to play. lol okay ill try to go get a life now. maybe ill go outside. draw with chak… sing random nursery rhymes at the top of my lungs… aaaaarrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! must. stop. typing.   9. The only thing I don’t like maybe is that Rex looks a bit too punky. Yeah he had short spikey hair but I don’t know I never imagined him like that. I guess I don’t have any imagination when it comes to visualizing faces. 🙂 Still great picture!

    but i pictuerd Rex his hair is his face..not up.
    and i pictured Jessica with curly hair.

  31. I bought a refurbished Kindle 2 few days back. I have no words to describe this product. First of all you must know I am a voracious reader and read more than 4 books a month. The problem I always faced was what to do with those books after I am done. Don’t get me wrong I would like to have them all in my collection but I have a job which takes me places and I can not carry all my books with me which is actually a lot. With Kindle I found a solution to the problem. Now I have a digital library instead of having a physical one.

    Secondly, I take public transport from my home to office and it takes me more than an hour and a half one side. I would like to read on the way but my eyes get strained if I read on a bus. Along came Kindle…. now when I am on a bus I start text to speech and listen all the way to the office. This increased my reading time and I have started finishing a lot more books than before. This feature uses a lot of battery and the battery lasts for maximum 2-3 days but it is worth it.

    Thirdly, I love the way it looks. Its sleek design and the way I can hold in one hand(any one) and keep reading.

    Also there are a few books which are available on Kindle only by Amazon and believe me it is a great collection and don’t forget the free kindle books Amazon give as a promotion every few days. Its awesome.

    Now the problems… Kindle is good for reading but not for browsing through the book. I like to quickly browse through a book before a start reading it but it is not possible here. Also when using the table of contents etc the 5 way stick is not very comfortable a way to go. Browsing web becomes problematic for the same reason.

    If anybody likes to read books like I do, Kindle is worth every penny. The Nice to have and Great to have features of this device far far outweigh the problem with the 5 way stick. A must have device for every reader.

  32. i love it…it’s totally awsome…i wish I was a midnighter…it would be cool if the whole world was just like this trilogy…it is just so awsome…but thing is…i don’t think the artist got rex’s hair and johnathan’s clothes right…im pretty sure rex’s hair was pretty down similar to johnathan’s and johnathan seems to be more of a long sleeve guy…but still very good

  40. diverse travesty surgery clinics with surgeons with the orthodox certifications that were fitted to do my procedure. Some of the surgeons I ground turned old to be liposuction specialists, so you should allow bring into being to assured that you log in sift through for specialists in your area

  42. sweet. This is pretty much how I pictured all the characters.. Except the Flyboy in my head was less evil looking…. I like this one better though.

  43. I really don’t like it :S mainly because it’s not how i pictured them at all and I don’t think it captures them really .. it’s just generically dark manga but whatever.. if the authors happy.
