I forgot to mention that Mind-Rain is out! Yes, a few of you commenters have already found it in various stores. If you can’t find it, just ask for it by name!

    i love shay, and hate tally, and love zane, and hate david, and love cable, but hate maddy, i know im wierd! but it IS tally and maddy’s fault that Zane died!!!!! im glad that robin wasserman sees the real tally for who she is, and she loves shay just as much as i do! i also agree with the one about teens ruling the world and slang… i NEED to go to borders and get mind rain and skinned, but my mom is obsessed about this bookstore that doesn’t carry NORMAL books, so she won’t take me to borders and they dont have it at this bookstore. but maybe my dad will take me this weekend, cept i think im broke and unless it’s school related, he won’t pay for it! DARN!

    omg, like AAR is touring, but they come to California on a WEDNESDAY!!!, which is a skool day in september!!!!!! i will skip tests to go to that concert, including the CSTs, which luckily r not in sep.. i think my mom will let me go tho, as an early bday present. but wat if she doesnt? sobs loudly.
    has anyone actually been to one of their concerts? cuz i saw them perform live on youtube, and the lead singer is funny. wow im really off topic

    hmm, i better say something uglies related, or scott might kick me off the blog lol. do u think scott listens to AAR? i need to go to the bookstore but my moms like no im too tired and i dont feel like it. o well…we hav to go one day…in like july, probably…

  5. Man, I want to comment but I have no idea what to say! Well, I guess… oh, I don’t know! Hehe, I’m just bored. Nothin to do for once, and my homeschooled friend isn’t done with her school yet because she skipped a couple weeks when she had guests over and such… you know, I’m going to ask if I can go to Books-A-Million, or BAM, as my mom calls it (Lol)… Barnes & Noble and Books-a-Million are the only bookstores I’ve been to. I wonder what Borders is like… lol

  6. Ooh, I know what I’m going to do! I’m going to download the pictures I took on the digital camera on the computer and post them on my blog… after I work on the kids newsletter for my neighborhood… yup, now I have stuff to do! Yay!

    Loved Skinned, and Wasserman’s writing in this is just as good and pretty funny too. I do think that Shay is a heroine and has had a lot of bad luck.

  8. wahoo i finished it last night!! i really liked that documentary thing, it was pretty cool 😀 oh man…. now i have nothing to read…. i was gonna re-read specials and extras but my friends are borrowing them @_@ i hope they r done by friday bc thats when im gonna see them next… oh! i just remembered we’ve got drama camp coming up next week so i can just practice lines and stuff! yay ok peace out!!! 🙂

  9. I didn’t know where to post this comment but I’ve always hoped you would mention translations of your books.
    I recently found out that Uglie’s title in Spanish is “Traición” (Betrayal). After doing some research I was very disappointed. Uglies has been labeled as “romantic YA literature” and compared to the Twilight series. I suppose the book will catch more teenagers’ attention this way but… aren’t they getting the wrong idea? Uglies is not only about romance or friendship, there is so much more to it than the teen soap dilemmas the publishers are trying to sell. I can’t help being a little upset that teenagers are so often underestimated and Spanish publishers avoid presenting them with the idea of a book that will make you think.

    I’d like to know your thoughts on this =D.

  10. Lucia: was “romantic YA literature” the ONLY thing it wz labeled as? thats just so weird. i would say it’s futuristic sci-fi, technology, or something like that.

    u kno, for some reason, that song reminds me of how david must feel when tally left him. i hate that part of the book!
    i mean, like, its so sad. ugh. why? why? why? i liked david, but then he got dumped, and zane died. waaaaaaa

    Riva-la: hmm, could it be All American Rejects? I listened to them for about a week, but they’re not really my thing. I’m more into Muse, MCR, Paramore, Nirvana, and Green Day (their new cd is soooo awesome!). there are more bands, but I don’t feel like listing them all.

    Has anyone else read Dead Is The New Black by Marlene Perez???

  13. Dahlia-wa: yay! you guessed right. I like Muse, too. Supermassive BLack Hole, awesome song. Does MCR stand 4 something? Yea, i kno im so out of it. I like the old Green Day better, their album American Idiot. wait, y am i giving a musical analysis? cuz im weird. does anyone like Lady Gaga, or Justin Timberlake? Im mostly into alternative now, but used to lov pop. so i hav a lot of pop music in my itunes. dont trust me by 3OH!3 is a very funny song. but im too scared to watch the music video on youtube. its probly not very…yeah. it freaks my mom out wen i sing that song out loud. shes like waaaat? mwahaha. im evil. VV vampire teeth.

  14. MCR stands for My Chemical Romance. I love that song Riva-la!
    3oh!3 is so awesome. I have like a mile long list of bands that I like. Some of my favorites are Panic at the Disco(all time favorite, they’re amazing in concert too. I’ve said this like a zillion times, I know!) Escape the Fate, Mayday Parade, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Hawthorne Heights, Nevershoutnever, MCR, Greenday,
    All Time Low, Alesana, The Devil Wears Prada, The Maine, 30 Seconds to Mars, and Youmeatsix.

    My music taste is very well rounded, lol. I’ll listen to some screamo like The Devil Wears Prada or something like that, then go and listen to Nevershoutnever. One of the most pansy bands ever, and also one of the most amazing. Christofer Drew’s so awesome! I’m not a big fan of Lady GaGa, but dude, some of her songs are just SO freaking catchy, you can’t help but like them! I like Just Dance and Pokerface.

  17. I like Mayday Parade and 30 Seconds to Mars too. Mayday Parade is very similar to We The Kings (another one of my faves), which is, like, the all-male version of Paramore.
    I don’t like pop music. I don’t think I ever really have.
    Does anyone else listen to 10 Years??? I only have four songs by them, but they’re really good. 🙂
    Let’s see, other fave bands are Flyleaf, The Killers, Bullet for My Valentine, Three Days Grace, and Tool. I like Evanescence, but I haven’t listened to them in forever. And I used to like Chevelle, but their last album wasn’t good. I only like their old stuff.
    Oh yeah, I also like Wrong by Depeche Mode (I got it for the soundtrack of my book). 🙂

  20. I hadn’t heard of Tool until I got Guitar Hero: World Tour for Christmas. I loved the three songs they have on there, so I decided to get one of their cds (though, the cd I got only had one of the songs from the game. Luckily, the other two songs are on the same cd so I’ll only have to buy one more to have all the game songs). 🙂

    Regarding the Bands: I like pretty much all of the bands listed (some of them I’ve heard of but never listened to like The Devil Wears Prada, Never Shout Never, Bullet for my Valentine) but a lot of people I know like those. What about Death Cab for Cutie? (I like all sorts of music too. if you go to betterpropaganda.com you can download[legally!] some indie bands) 😀 You all sound like cool people, based on your music tastes.

  25. Lizzy-wa, (assuming your question was directed at me, because a lot of bands have been mentioned) Tool is just rock. You should listen to Vicarious, it’s one of their best songs. 🙂

    Riva-la, that really stinks. I know how that feels (and I’m not just sayign that). When Anthony Horowitz was touring once, there was an event near me, but it got cancelled. I was so sad. 🙁

    I used to like Death Cab, but I stopped listening to them a while ago.

  28. i just got it yesterday and its pretty interesting. Theres a lot of stuff i wondered about but quickly dismissed because i figured “author knows best” but apparently some people were thinking A LOT about the series… [two post its] but its rather enjoyable and i think you might need to clarify with another book there scott-la 😉

  31. I just got the book a few days ago and I loved it! It was majorly bubbly to see all the different views on the series.

    Robin Wasserman’s essay has definitely sold me on a Shay-centric book. I was already pretty big on Shay before I read it, but I think it made me like her even more. <3

    I’d also love to see another book like this; there’s still so many things that could be covered.

  35. IS ANYONE ELSE PISSED AT ROBIN WASSERMAN??? i mean yeah, Shay kicks ass, but so do Tally AND David. I love David. And Tally. And Shay. Just because Shay roxx everyone’s soxx doesn’t mean Tally and David have to suck. DAVID IS NOT–I REPEAT NNNOOOTTTTT AN ASSHOLE!!! AND IN SPECIALS WHEN TALLY WAS SAYING THAT SHAY AND DAVID WERE DATING IT WAS JUST CUZ THEY WERE MAKIN FUN OF HER AND SHE NEEDED SOMETHING TO COVER IT UP. words cannot describe how much i want to throw that chapter on the ground, smush it and do a tapdance on it. i mean, i LOOOVEEEEE shay, don’t get me wrong, but does she have to diss everyone else???

    I’m a fan of yours and I just want to thank you for your great books. They have really helped me with a lot of issues in my life that would have been otherwise hard. Your books totally understood my position, and I knew how your characters felt when the doctors wanted to change them. I learned the hard way that the science of beauty does exist, but your stories helped me be myself. I can now look in the mirror with happiness. I think your a great person with I sense of humor (i follow you on Twitter) Keep writing!

  40. the fact that Extras is coming out is totally fawesome because the ending of Specials wasn’t as definite. Also, he’s not continuing with the same characters (main characters, at least) and it takes place in Japan, which opens up a billion new options
