Steampunk Cakes!

You know what makes any sub-genre better? CAKES, that’s what!

Perhaps it’s not surprising, given that October is Steampunk Month, but one of my favorite blogs, Cake Wrecks, is all about the steampunk this week. Normally Cake Wrecks covers only weird, horrible cakes, but apparently everything steampunk is GOOD:

  1. Mmmmm, gears. Actually, “delicious” is probably one of the adjectives I most think of in relation to steampunk. (Leviathan included–I finished a couple hours ago and it was DEFINITELY as good as I’d hoped. Amazing rich and real alternate history whale adventures of secret identities for everyone!) Cake Wrecks is pretty great as well…so many hours of Chem lab spent laughing myself sick instead of researching the chemistry of eggs. *looks back fondly*

  2. Ping to: Team Yoshi Banana and Claire-wa (team zane)-

  12. Hmm… that cake looks good, Scott-la! 🙂
I haven’t commented on your blog since the production of Bogus to Bubbly D: But I do read your blog each and every day as soon as I wake up, and have been an avid follower on Twitter!
I was so excited to pick up my copy of Leviathan today, and I’m about to go read chapter 5 now 🙂 I also bought Justine’s book Liar today, and after reading that and Leviathan I plan on reading some of her older books as well.

I am also hoping to be able to meet you when you’re in up-state new jersey, but unfortunately I’m in south jersey and my dad won’t be able to drive me that weekend, but hopefully I’ll find a ride!

You’re my favorite author, and it would be an honor to meet you.

    Lots of good wishes,
    Prue-la

  13. Nice cakee(:
And yeah that is scary making (the fire)
You should come to Houston,Texas (northwest part of town) I will totally be there!
I still gotta buy the ‘brick’ and what will make it complete is if you sign it!!
Well that’s all I have to say for now;; cya Scott fans!~mostly uglies fans:D

  14. wow! Can u actually EAT that? Bubbly-making!

Oh, and scary-making fire! A bajilion ( its a number, people, get used to it ) of your fans would be totally devastated! *sniff*

Okay, am i missing something, people? I’ve been looking for Liar EVERYWHERE! Is it not out in the U.S.? Is it not out at major bookstores? Is it an adult book? Or am i just curseed with non-liar-ness?

Oh, and ping to Julie-wa and Team Yoshi Banana: steamy! new word! Wait… steamy, or steamy-making? Hmmm… i’ll hafta think ’bout that.

Ping to Scot-la: leviathan was positively BRILLIANT! The pics were sorta Giger-ish, i guess… they really didn’t look like anything i’d ever seen before! As for the descriptions… Your prose, once again, astounds me. it tore all my expectations to shreds and pulled me completely into the story. I loved it! That has to be the one of the best books i’ve read in forever!

  15. CAKE!!!! 😀

    Me lovez it!

Wow Scott-la, you must do a bunch of research on steampunkiness!
(then again, so would I if I was going to write a book about it.)
And you said u would have no time for posts. you did 2 yesterday! Thanks 4 satisfying our thirst 4 awesome! 😀

  16. We can also make out own cakes at home to celebrate Leviathan, and cover a brick in icing. wonder if that’ll look the same… :]
