The Wobbler, The Brick

Four things:

One: As you may remember, Leviathan is coming out on Tuesday, a mere three days from now. (Update: After a quick recount, turns out it’s actually four days from now: Saturday, Sunday, Monday, TUESDAY!)

But there is another object going on sale that very same day, October 6. I call it “the brick,” because it looks like this:

The brick contains all four books in the Uglies series—Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras! And they all live together in a lovely box that references all four covers. I love me a slipcase.

Two: Simon & Schuster Canada sent me this amusing steampunk video on how to install a “Leviathan Wobbler,” a bookworm dazzler of astonishing complexity.

    Suddenly (like my iPod) my boxed UGLIES trilogy set is obsolete!!
    I bought them separate, thinking, “Oh, if only, if only, all four could be together in one box of ugly-pretty-special-extra GOODNESS!”

  8. I’ve held off buying Specials&extras cause I heard of the brick… so can’t wait! &then I’ll be able to pass on Uglies and Pretties so someone else can be introduced to Tally’s world.

    Also can’t wait for Leviathan!!! so psyched!
    &my journalism advisor gave me a go-ahead to review Leviathan for our school paper… we just released an online edition, so I am going to have it published on the online edition so the bubbly-major trailer can compliment the article!

  10. The video was funny, and I noticed that they had the books with the old covers…and that a copy of Leviathan was in the background of the brick picture…..want……

    And I agree, they should make a Midnighters brick, I already own the Uglies book but got Midnighters from the library…I want to buy them though!

  18. AHHH!! The BRICK?! I just completed my collection of uglies a few days ago by getting a special at borders (teen fiction buy 2 get 1 free)

    Blast, if only I had the patience…

    Oh well now at least I have so many things… is there a limit to how much you’ll sign? I might have to hire a U-haul…

  37. When I check online for the uglies brick; all the books cone in paper back. Are there any in hardcover?

  38. I think that since Uglies and Pretties don’t come in hardcover on their own, I guess they just took those and the paperback Specials and Extras. Which sucks. Scott-sama, make them print some hardcover versions of Uglies and Pretties.

  54. Scott-la: My friends and I have done some major good for Uglies! So my friend Kathryn, who I absolutely ADORE, had me read the series last year and I LOVED IT!!!!! So, from then, I recommended it to a few of my friends, who also loved it and then they recommended it to their friends and etc…So now almost half of our 8th grade class (not including the younger people & older people who’ve also read and loved it) has read the series and loved it! You are obviously a very good writer, Scott-la! 🙂
    Debating on when I can buy Leviathan.

  57. Wow! You have no idea how much I love the “Uglies” series. Right now, I’m on “Specials”. I love your dramatic cliffhanger endings. They always keep me guessing! I also love the unasked questions about beauty and friendship and society that I’m left thinking about after I finish one of your books. I also wanted to say that the one thing I don’t like about about your books is that you make the Rusties look so bad. I mean I know there’s that one part in Uglies when David tells Tally that some of us had the right idea, but I still think that we (the Rusties) are portrayed as uneco-conscious idiots. I love nature! I recycle mostly everything I can, I turn off the lights when no one is in a room, and also turn the water off in the sink when I brush my teeth. Please reply to my comment! 😀
